[QUOTE=top40;313175]It was good to win, but wasn't a great win in that we have a number of problems.
Gee some of you guys are "glass half empty"/wet blankets.
Come on, if you are going to following the Swans, try to enjoy the good times!!!That was the sweetest home and away victory since Round 6 Collingwood 2003 at Telstra Dome. Just think of the following positives:
1. The Hawks were absolutely flying, having beaten recently and comfortably West Coast and Port Adelaide (away from home)
2. The game was in Victoria
3. Ablett was out
4. Kennelly goes down first minute. We are left with a bench of three for three hours. Also, remember how many games we have won without him over the course his career. Answer: 2
5. We are smashed in the first quarter, but came back.
6. A loss would see us 5-6, with in-form (and always headache) opponents to come in Collingwood at Telstra Stadium and Geelong at Kardina. Can you think of how many comfortable wins that we have had against Collingwood at Homebush? Answer: zero. The last time we beat Geelong at Kardina was last century.
7. We won without any of our forwards including Barry Hall having any influence.
Come on guys!

I am sorry but I have to say it....
You sound like by bloody Eagles supporters. Rowan Jones is much maligned over here, to the point where you can literally here groans when he goes near the pill. I think it is disgraceful
Get behind the team.... You are supporters...therefore SUPPORT not bag.
Well done Swannies today!Comment

Hey, hold on there! Never EVER compare me with those feral, disgraceful, ill-mannered turds that I have encountered when in WA to support my team. I think I, Ernie and anybody else have a right to bag a player if said player is (constantly) underperforming. I cannot stand McVeigh, I reckon I could do as much for the team as he does. I'd swap him for Rowan Jones any day of the week. And, by the way, if you were sitting near me at a game, you would hear me groan every time McVeigh goes near the ball!
By all means get frustrated but don't bloody constantly bag players it's really poor form.Comment

Just simply not being blind to believe that everything is well just because we won.

He is the only player I bag and I bag him because he is crap, pure and simple. We have so much talent running around in the reserves that deserve their chance in the seniors yet this, indecisive, poorly skilled, lame excuse for a footballer gets to play week in and week out. He must have something for Roos to keep playing him but I'll be damned if I can see what it is.Comment

Home from the game and I must say that is one of the toughest games I have seen. The tackling by both sides was fierce and relentless. In the second half we were able to get players well in the clear enough to break up their 3 players back ploy. Did anyone notice in the second half how Buchanan repeatedly and deliberately ran to the camera side wing to make space and Hawthorn did not wake up to it.
My thoughts on our players:
The backline was superb and although Bevan didn't seem to get much of it he didn't seem to stuff anything up and certainly was into the magnificent team tackling 30 metres in the front of their goal. I thought that was a genuine feature how we refused them an easy possession in their forward 50. Bolton on Franklin was a tough day at the office for him but I dont who else we could use.
Richards presented well in a much improve performance.
Dempster seemed to be on the wing a lot of the time and had a couple of good centre clearances.
McVeigh - gee I thought his second half was OK and was a lot cleaner with his kicks.
Everitt - outstanding.
Jolly - did some one say he was poor. Strewth I thought he was pretty good until injured, and he did play on but had lost all pace.
Malceski - 3 clearly poor short kicks to Hawthorn players. He seems much better with long kicks to position. Still pretty good.
Goodes,Fosdike(loves the G)Kirk and Davis very good games.
Leo played a great game until very late. The world saw Spida on his own to his left yet he went right into trouble. Skakes head.
ROK - kicks those 2 goals and he would have been in best. Tagged all day and ended up running his man ragged.
Schneider seemed a bit off early but his 3rd Q was good.
MOL - down but kept presenting and worked very hard in last Q. In the end Campbell Brown couldn't keep up with him.
Buchanan played a much better game and disposal was up a lot. Thank goodness he kicked that goal.
J Bolton - No. Kicking was poor again.
Hall - problem was he played behind too often. Get in front on the one on ones. Is his eyesight a problem again. Drops a lot of chest marks - does he see the ball.
Mathews kicked OK for a change but Bateman was one player that kept them in it.
Schmidt - well if this bloke gets dropped it is a travesty. I cant wait to see his Time on Ground. He got a goal by being in the right place and presented a lot and was fierce in the clinches. A couple of desperate dives in the midfield in the last Q saves certain breakaways by Hawthorn. The other notable thing he did was tag Lewis for quite a while and was able to negate his effectiveness. Late in the game while we under severe pressure he cooly strolled on his own the HBF to create the loose man. He has so much upside it is not funny. Kicks long and with penetration.Comment
