Next two games to decide our top 4 prospects

Our next two games are HUUUUGE in deciding where we will finish (hopefully in the top 8).

Beat Collingwood and lose to Geelong (Top 4 possible, top 2 unlikely)
Lose to Collingwood and Beat Geelong (Top 4 possible, top 2 unlikely)
Beat Collingwood and Geelong (Top 4 likely, top 2 possible)
Lose to Collingwood and lose to Geelong (Top 4 unlikely, top 2 impossible and fighting for top 8).

We need to fire up for the Pies game...cannot wait and hopefully 60,000+. Have seen advertising for the game on Seven and Ten today. If marketed well, 75,000 possible.

    FIRE UP SWANNIES!!

I've been thinking the same thing today. Some people, including some here on RWO, wrote Sydney off after a 1 point loss last week. Are they now writing off West Coast? Sydney responds in almost the best possible fashion (I say almost because of that first quarter). Huge game set up with Collingwood. If a number of games go in our favour, we could be in 3rd spot at the end of the next round.

The pies game alone with decide our season. Win that and we are in the mix for top 4. Lose and I doubt we could make it.

They're very big because we can't afford to drop both, even dropping one puts us back in the mix, and winning both gives us a huge boost relative to teams above us.

I think we should be well placed to beat Collingwood next week.

Geelong at Skilled will be a very tough proposition.

A win against Collingwood and a good showing against Geelong should still see us a tracking okay.

Interestingly we are in much the same spot as we always are under Roos.
          2003 7-4 115% 4th
          2004 6-5 110% 6th
          2005 6-5 95% 6th
          2006 7-4 124% 4th
          2007 6-5 114% 7th

However, each of those fairly similar positions held quite a different performance behind it I think. Only in 2003 and 2006 were we playing really good football. In the other three it was fairly ugly and a grind. In 2004 it continued that way, but in 2005 it came good a few rounds later (rd 15).

Currently I think we are like 2004-5. The next two games may give us a good idea which way it might head for the rest of the year. I still can't tell which Swans are going to turn up week to week.

Important to go 1-1 at least in the next two rounds, but I have a feeling that there isn't going to be a clear Top 4 for a while yet. Geelong and West Coast look like the only two sides at the moment that could put a lock on their positions, the rest could go either way, I think teams 3-9 are going to be bunched up for a while with wild ladder drops and gains week to week for the next 4 to 5 weeks.

The channel 10 ad is pathetic. 2 out of the 3 Collingwood players they list won't even be playing..

we should be able to beat collingwood at home. It will depend on hall and oloughlin finding a bit of form, but i am confident we can win that one.

I have seen geelong every week bar about 2 games this year, seen them live twice, at the moment we wouldnt go close to beating them, but i think a week off and a good win against the maggies and we can be ready. well hopefully
Theres not much left to say

                        We've just been lucky.

The fact that Collingwood, West Coast and Hawthorn all lost , has opened up the top 4 for us again. Had they all wone, or even two of them, we'd be to far away. As it sits now, we're only two wins and a little percantage from the top!!! We take Collingwood (Which we should due to their injuries), and then have a red hot crack against the Pussies (Going to be tough away at Skilled), and we might get to the top 4. Take them both, and we're into the top 4 and just have to hold our nerve.

And yes, what a difference a week makes.

Given Collingwood's injury crisis at the back, Hall and MOL will have no better chance to play themselves back into form.

Collingwood should be a win. Geelong at Skilled on current form shapes as nigh on impossible (expecially after our effort there last year). But in saying we'll be primed to knock off another top side and the Cats are due to have an off-game. Also (and this is either a positive or negative depending on the team) when we play the Cats it will be their first game in 2 weeks. Perhaps their intensity won't be at the level required to play a team such as Sydney.

The evenness (sp?) of the competition has certainly been beneficial for us, as it has been for us at least part of the time in recent years.

Let's hope our season doesn't depend on beating Cats at Skilled Stadium. And I doubt it will.

What odds Bucks making a surprise comback for this game? It was this game a couple of years back that he returned from his last long term hammy strain & I've a suspicion that may roll the dice on him again this time.
