Last minute of the third quarter

50 secs to go: Monty misses a 25m pass to a leading Hall, which, of course goes between his legs.

35 secs: after a series of good handballs Buddy kicks #5 on the run to bring Hawks back to within 3 pts - Hawks' players & fans go crazy

30 secs: Jolly wins free kick, good running from Goodes & he drives the ball inside 50

20 secs: Goodes follows up beautifully & clever little pass finds Micky O leading

After siren: Micky kicks superbly from angle - Swans 9 points up, Swans players swamp Micky, all momentum taken away from Hawks.

A very important minute for our season perhaps...

Brian Taylor and the Triple M Melbourne boys loved the Swan's reaction after Micky O's goal.

Briiiiiiian was going off - " Woweeeeeeeeeeee"
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

I'm not sure what is says about our season but it says a lot about Amon's kicking skills

I was watching that on the scoreboard, I don't think I have ever seen the Swans so pleased with a goal during a match. It was really good to see the enthusiasm returning.

          Yep - I recall that!

Not as crazy as he was when he called a goal from Leon Davis - "YOU ARE A MAGNIFICENT HUMAN BEING"!! Even Mrs Bloods, who doesn't like football, was laughing!!

At the time, I was thinking it said more about Barry Hall. I was cursing him at the time far more than Amon.

It wasn't a good pass, no doubt, but at that stage of the quarter, Hall just could not under any circumstances let the ball just bobble away or thru his legs or anything and let Hawthorn take it away. He didn't trap it, then just stood there, no chase or effort, as they swept it away for what was ultimately a goal.

That kick from Goodes to Micky O was just sublime. I could watch that over and over again.

Hopefully the defining, turnaround moment (rather than the poor disposal and attempt to gather 35 seconds earlier).

I think the way he followed up the initial mistake was as telling as the kick. Not because it was anything more than he should be doing but because he hasn't been doing so for most of this year.

For a few split seconds he showed a glimpse of the Goodes' swagger that has mostly been missing this year - the confident attack on the ball second time round and the time and composure to follow up with the sublime kick.

I guess as much as anything what made it for me what not so much the play (tho that was great) or even the stuff up leading to a goal in the dying seconds - we've done that dozens of times! It was the fact that we weren't prepared to leave it at that with 30 secs to go but pushed ahead determined to score in those final moments. If we had been happy to just shut up shop for those last few seconds, I have little doubt that the Hawks would have gone in with all the momentum & perhaps that would have changed things greatly in the last quarter. And if that was the case, a 5/6 formline at the half way break would have put us in very poor company indeed.

I just think perhaps we'll look back on that minute in a few months time and think it was very significant indeed. Hope so anyway!!

That was hilarious that night. You may have also heard the highlights package of BT's commentary of Neon Leon the following day.

                        Very funny stuff.

Huge kick by MOL, who has a bit of form as a yipper in pressure set shots at the MCG. This time last year, I wouldn't have backed him with bad money to make it. On Satdy, I couldn't say I was confident, but his pre-kick routine and focus looked pretty sound.

Things like that Goodes/MOL play when Hawthorn were about to head into 3/4 time with all the momentum, make the difference between a team that makes the 4, and one that squeezes into the 8. If only we can produce those moments on a regular basis between now and the end of the year.

Seriously, this perception of Magic and the 'yips' is starting to give me the irits.

The commentators go on endlessly about it, but as far as I'm concerned ('for mine' would have been a good alternative there), he is being crucified for one bad quarter of kicking in the '05 GF. The commentators saw fit to bring it up yet again when he lined up for goal on Saturday.

FFS, he's had his moments in front of goal, but he's never seriously had 'the yips' over an extended period.

And while we talk of THAT quarter, not many people (I know 1 or 2 here have mentioned it) bother to acknowledge that he actually tore Chick a new one in THAT quarter.

He led strongly, marked strongly, did everything right except lost all control over his kicking foot. 3 or 4 strong marks and shots on goal in a quarter of football has been forgotten because of his poor kicks.

It's all well and good that MickyO outplayed his opponent, but if it amounts to nothing, then is it really worth while? Especially, if those goals could win or lose a match. That said, the commentators are overly infatuated with MickyO and the yips..and they hardly mention B1 and Hally's "yips"
