FFS, he's had his moments in front of goal, but he's never seriously had 'the yips' over an extended period.

And while we talk of THAT quarter, not many people (I know 1 or 2 here have mentioned it) bother to acknowledge that he actually tore Chick a new one in THAT quarter.

He led strongly, marked strongly, did everything right except lost all control over his kicking foot. 3 or 4 strong marks and shots on goal in a quarter of football has been forgotten because of his poor kicks.
Essentially I agree with you but he did get them back a bit partway through last year, especially as he was approaching his 400th league goal. I think eventually someone handballed to him in the goal square just to make sure he couldn't miss!

No. And that is obvious given his accuracy.

However, he does occasionally miss easy shots and quite frequently his kicks are ugly floaters or his routine is very jerky and unsettled. I think these things colour people's perceptions and overshadow his effective accuracy.

Given his abysmal kicking on that day, it's not surprising it is well remembered. However, the shame is that if he'd just kicked just say 2 of his 5 (?) chances in that last quarter, he would have been considered a hero and possible NM medallist as he did look awesome and had completely towelled up Chick.

Not to mention allowed us all to have enjoyed the last 5 minutes of the game

It was a sublime passage of football. All the silky skills of two fantastic players on display at the peak of their prowess (for that passage of play at least). Here's hoping we see it a few more times this year and next.

As for MOL and his goal kicking yips, I've said it once and I'll say it again. If Micky O is kicking them, we win games. He is the barometer of the Swans. He doesn't need to kick a bag, but when he's marking, contributing and converting, we almost always win..... almost.

Mol got the yips,no way he is the most accurate in the Swans team this year so far.

And when Goodes, O'Keefe, Bolton and Mathews kick a goal we're in trouble

I thought whenever Mathews had the ball we were in trouble.

Those goal stats also show that we win when our midfielders kick goals.

Which aslo confirmes the old story that when the opposition floods, our midfiled shouldn't try to pass it to MOL or Barry, but rather try and kick goals themselves.
