thats a load of rubbish mate
*in 2003 round 21: 72,393 we lost by 18 bcoz the pies were a better drilled unit (even tho lions thumped em in the g/f)
*prelim final: 71,500 we were down 55-52 heading into the 4th qtr. 7 unanswered goals to the lions....who won 3 in a row and made 4 straight grand finals.
* grand final 2005 92,000+ we were more desperate in the 1% plays
* prelim 2005 73,500: we had momentum going into the final term and ran away with it with fresh legs and heaps of centre clearances
* prelim 2006 62,000+ we were challenged by pavlich and co but it was the dockers who suffered from stage fright
* grand final 2006 97,200+ lost by a point could have gone either way in the last 2 mins
* round 1 2007: 62,000+ gave west coast too big a lead, 36 at half time
* round 12 2006 61,000+ didak and licuria played brilliantly and came to play, pies were ahead by 43 in the final term but we got some consolation goals (as i was walking out of the ground....was so shocked we got within 13 in that one)
so yeah no issue with big crowds
bigger issue with what we're doing on the field
the crowd doesn't play a factor as it used to, remember "fortress sydney in 96-97???" 20 straight wins at home.
playing at subiaco in front of 43,000 eagles fans would make as much noise as a grand final roar (esp when eagles r hot). if they doubles the capacity of that ground they sell out most games, poor bastards have 1 sport to follow (and the western force, pfft)
collingwood gets 10,000 to training sessions (the fans r losers!!) which is more than we get to a local footy game.
i think we should plan for some more day games
maybe saturday day?
or sunday twilight?
or even take on friday night footy for nrl.
im getting sick of watching "tragic 1 point losses and come from behind only to lose night matches"
