I think we'll make finals, but I expect we'll finish 7th. At best we'll win one final.
Will the swans miss the finals

After last night's Collingwood game I'm afraid to say that the party's over, time to go home guys. (The party being 2005 and the surrounding glory years of the second half of 2002 through to 2006).
We were the one's who HAD to win the Collingwood game, (you know the drill: 4th if we won/10th if we lost). Yet it is was the Pies who played like their lives depended upon it, playing like cats on a hot tin roof. Sydney played like old hound dogs.Comment

Thats an excellent suggestion. I feel so bloody ripped off after watching that @@@@e last night, we put in the effort to get to these games and support out team and our reward - absolute garbage!Comment

It's time to throw out some of the old dish water....Even if we make the finals it will be short lived the way this lot are playing.
We could all name atleast 3-4 players who should be dropped .They should throw, at least, 3 or 4 reserves players in, and keep rotating the duds out and maybe...just maybe....we'll find 3 - 6 decent young players capable of AFL standard. It's impossible to gauge how they're going in the onesided Canberra comp. You never know, we might still scrap into the finals, and give some invaluable experience, to some youngsters, for 2008 and beyond.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... One thing I look forward about the immediate future. I wasn't a supporter back in 1992 or 1993, with my support of the club commencing in 1996. Since season 1995 the Swans have never had a final percentage of less than 100, and only missed the finals after 1995 in 2000 and 2002. (Narrowly in 2000, and second half of 2002 was quite exciting). So for me personally, there has never been any really bad times.
Therefore my personal challenge is to be a loyal supporter of a lowly rank side, happily going to games at the SCG when they are say 3-16 and last on the ladder. I am DETERMINED not to be a fairwhether supporter. Further, (and many long terms supporters will appreciate this), after enduring these soon to come bad years, won't it be sooo sweet when the Sydney Swans win their second flag in the year 2017, (with several first round number 1 or 2 draft picks)!Comment

At the round 22 game against Carlton last year, I sat beside 2 older ladies from Melbourne who were devoted Carlton fans and had been for over 50 years. I commented on how I admired their loyalty for still travelling interstate to see their team even with the lack of success they had been enduring. They replied that the team had given them plenty of joy through the years and now they were giving it back. After last night, I think we are going to be given the chance to show the same dedication.Comment

[QUOTE=Jewels;315428]Thats beautiful Top40. I too started my support in 96 and, like you, have never really known the bad times and, like you, am determined not to be a "fairweather" fan.
Good to see Jewels that you are a better speller than yours truly.Comment

I have thought about this and have decided to give them until Round 14 before writing off our chances this season, since that was the round which featured the Swans' last insipid performance (vs Richmond) in our premiership year, leaving us 8-6 at that stage (We went on to go 10-2 after that). I'm aware that on last night's form, I am being awfully generous, as we are 6-6 already. On the bright side, their form has probably (well, hopefully really!) bottomed out.Comment

Although we were all gutted by the awful performance last night, I dont' think we should write our team off yet. I agree that some of them should be dropped and some of the reserves should be given a chance. I also wonder if maybe some of them are playing with injuries? They just seem to lost their mojo at the moment, so hopefully they will find it again soon!!!!!Comment
