The first quarter is so important. Sydney and Freo have won a combined total of 5 first quarters out of 26 this season. We've got to get a good start.
Further, let's do what the Kangaroos did recently for Archer, and the Saints did for Harvey: lift big time for a super milestone occasion. You can't get more milestone on occasion than a club record game AND a 200 game appearance, by two great players like Magic and Goodies. (Also Spider's AFL life membership 300th overall game, and Dempster's 50th). Come on boys!
On passing, aside for Kel and Dunk's last game in 2002, can anyone remember the Swans lifting for a milestone occasion? I unfortunately can remember us being on the receiving end, notably against St Kilda in 2001 for Stewart Loewe's 300th, and against West Coast in 2004 for Glen Jakovich's final game.Comment

Though Jakovich and Kelly played a major milestone in the same game - I think it was their 200th - and we smashed the Weagles that day!
We were doing OK for milestones earlier in the year, until we got to Leo's 200th. We've had quite a few and they probably account for all our wins so far. Good thing Crouch's 200th is being held back for a few weeks. Hopefully we don't "need" it against Carlton, but could become useful later in the season

Almost every game we start with a midfield consisting of every one of our players in a tagging role.
If we want to win a first quarter, we might want to consider a slightly more attacking strategy. Memo to Roos: winning requires scoring.Comment
