    Laidlaw, Vogels and Buchanan dropped

    Obviously I know nothing.

How the hell could ANYONE think that Laidlaw was a worse player than McVeigh and Mathews (for a start) on the weekend. Fosdike, Bolton, Dempster and Ablett was also disgraceful, but I know.....let's drop the kid who played well and really added somnething to the team.

What a bloody disgrace. I actually hope we lose on Sunday, I really do.

I think there will be a late change and he'll play. Laidlaw in for Kennelly.

      To some degree, I agree.

It is going to be chaos when we lose our top tier of players (who are all getting towards the twilight of their careers).

I would rather start preparing for that now...

i give up , what othe rteam in the comp rewards mediocrity or less, its no wonder we not in the 8 and why we going to battle to get there this year. mcveigh still in side and laidlaw out u kidding me . the selection process we have at sydney is a joke this is as bad as 2001 and 2002 when we had some passengers as well. at least schmidt kept his place. hard luck to vogels as well. play ok get dumped play like a idiot and keep your spot, would hate to be a 2s player at sydney.

Although I would rather not lose I genuinely empathise with you Sharp. When Roos came on as coach he was going to develop players and teach them how to play. Well we won a flag but we are going down exactly the same path as many top sides over the past couple of decades.

He and Ireland have been quoted as saying that to keep the brand bouyant in Sydney they have to keep winning and stay at the top and have a strategy to do that. They have talked about the fact that they have a strategy required when you are not getting top draft picks.

Well I am buggered if I know what that strategy is because it is clear to all and sundry that we are headed downward. I thought we still had the group to have a real crack at the flag this year but too much of the group have dropped off or haven't come on.

Look at other clubs and they see in the modern game they must have youth coming on regularly to keep the speed and spring in the step of a squad. All we are doing is dropping a player each week to try to snap them out of their form slump, problem is they have dropped the wrong 2 in Schneider and Buchanan. We keep carrying blokes who are thieves in that they bludge on their team mates and are picking up their pay cheques every week.

How about dropping players who are absolutely not adding value to this team.

It looks like the Eade strategy all over again. If we slip any further it will a long way back. Introduce some youth while we still have the nucleus of a decent team.

Last year leadership at our club appeared strong, now I am not so sure. The only leader right now who is trying his guts out is Kirk. Leo is having a go but his lain brain stupidity with the ball is not that of a genuine leader.

Sigh. What the hell are our selectors thinking? After incomprehensibly dropping Schneider last week, they drop Laidlaw rather than McVeigh this week. At least they got dropping Monty right.

I have to ask a question - How stupid are we here on RWO?

              The selectors are geniuses!

They simply cannot drop McVeigh and until now I didn't know why!!!!!!!

It is now so obvious that I kick myself as to how silly I and my fellow RWO luminaries were!

              He cannot be dropped!!!!!!

              The secret is now out!!!!!!!

Ready for it - He is being played because (now don't tell anyone else) he is to be traded to Essendon next year - How the hell are we to increase his trade value if he plays where he should be - In the RESERVES!!!

He is playing like a player who wants to be traded. Probably to Essendon and has taken lessons off Mal Michael.

Except that in the reserves he'd be getting 40 touches a week and kicking a lazy half a dozen goals and some might be conned into thinking he's a very good player who can't force his way in. Playing in the seniors the way he is, others are left in little doubt as to where he's at at the moment.

I've not given up on him yet - his 2006 season was actually pretty good. He kicked goals when played as a midsized forward, successfully shut down dangerous opponents, and generally came on well in all aspects of his game. There must be a chance he'll rejoin that upward trajectory at some point.

Just not now, and not in the firsts. Not when a Laidlaw comes in, shows plenty of composure and an ounce of dash in woeful conditions and then gets bundled back to the twos straight away.

Laidlaw, Vogels and Buchanan dropped and for good reason they were average at best last week.McVeigh and Benny still have a few brownie points to go yet.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Once again reputation is considered before form. It makes me sick.

I've said this before and recent form seems to back it up.I think that McVeigh is Roosy's project player for 2007 and he will continue with him regardless.Maybe McVeigh plays a role that we,as mere supporters, are not aware of.

Pretty certain that Laidlaw will play for Kennelly who will be given another week to recover.

So all up they have retained Schmidt & Laidlaw in the team which is what people want and have added three expeirenced players in Hall, LRT and Scheinder.

If Kennelly returns next week then it will be between McVeigh & Laidlaw for that spot so hopefully Laidlaw can build from last week and remain in the side.

That just leaves Crouch for Bevan and we have something approaching our best side with some youngsters in the team.
