It wouldn't necessarily be relaxing the team plan, but perhaps a revised plan or a plan that counters the strategies of other teams, to basically suit the circumstances.
I believe players such as Goodes are already somewhat accomodated in relation to their flair and ability, but this is simply not spread across the board.
For example, who would disagree that Malceski should be given a little more freedom, or perhaps McVeigh is not a great tagger and should be freed up?
The Swans don't seem to have the same amount of go to players as other teams; players like the Burgoynes, Kerr, Harvey, Dal Santo, G. Ablett etc. and unfortunately they don't look interested in developing or recruiting this type of player: players who simply don't have to worry so much about what their opponents are doing but are off the leash to go and get the ball.
