Luke Ablett played with the flu.

Article in The Age where Paul Roos says in retrospect Luke Ablett had the flu and probably shouldn't have played. Explains his bad game and maybe explains why Ben Cousins had 38 possessions.

I wish he'd played with the midfield on Sat night.

What does this say? that our reserve stocks are that low that we have to play someone with the flu against a player known to play himself to constant vomitting.

Why wasn't someone else playing on Snorty and Ablett in a pocket?

Apparently Adam Schneider had the flu aswell, which may have had an impact on his poor game also.

Explains why he started on the bench. I assumed that when he came on at the same time with Cousins he was going to run with him - if that was the plan it was pretty stupid given Ablett's condition.

ah well i've gone to work with the flu, a broken hand and migranes, beat that!

still, the swans were too easy on cousins
          no mongrel at all
how he managed to get a lazy 38 was just disgraceful
fosdike was his direct opponent and got 26 for himself, might have been better to try to restrict cousins instead of having a shoot out style

They probably had colds rather than the flu.

Agree about the lack of pressure on Cousins. He's a great player but shouldn't have been allowed to have that many possessions with so little pressure.

I agree - people don't do anything (go to work, play football) if they really have flu. For some reason people think that a bad cold is flu - it's not!
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Exactly - you're bedridden for days with the flu. Although a cold can affect the way you perform.
