There was a game of rugger on at the SFS as well which finished around 5.30, which we discovered on our way in (couldn't work out why the carpark was emptying out while we were walking in). Not totally sure but something to do with that new Aussie club rugger compeitition I think.

      ?

I dont know which way everyone went, but I had a great trip into the game, it took less time than normal, and I started out from the inner west.

Trip home wasnt that flash, but wasnt too bad either.

Sat night was crazy. I got a lift to the game very early on Sat and as the Shute shield was on at the FS - there was no parking on the Moore Park Road side as they were only allowing the Ra Ra fans to exit that way.
Bad night with 3 events on!

I had all sorts of trouble driving past Moore Park in the mid-afternoon, but no problems closer to the game from the east.

There were plenty of warnings to take public transport on Saturday so you really only have yourselves to blame.

Well I wasn't even near the Moore Park when I was having trouble. The traffic was banked up all the way through the M5 East Tunnel so in the end I don't think it would have mattered any way I went to get to Goulburn Street I'd still cop it. Plus getting the train on a Saturday night from Lugarno is just a pain in the freaking butt, hence driving to GS to park.

Got to the ground at 5:10 from the Hills for usual pre diinner drinks. Roads OK. Main car park had house full sign up and had to park in anzac parade down near BP and walk back. Would not have wanted to be running late. Why would the SCG trust schedule 3 events on at the same time?????

I didn't see or hear any warnings/advice to take public transport.

The rugby grand final at FS and Sexpo on at the Hordern. I arrived at ground at 4:30 and parked in street with no problems. However, took my mate 1 hr to get down Cleveland street after 6 pm.

So Fox Precinct was full of cauliflower ears, vibrators and frustrated traffic choked Swans supporters.
Must have sold alot of size 16 G strings that night!

I'm just waiting for Layby's post admonishing those people who, unlike him, didn't get driven to the game in their limo so they could at least enjoy the congestion in comfort.

It just goes to show people that Sydney just cant handle the big events.

Thats right. They'd never be able to host anything as big as the Commonwealth games!!!

I normally come from the Shire and park at Randwick Racecourse, get the shuttle bus to the ground - easy peasy!! the shuttle bus return is $5.20 and you get a good spot and its not too crowded - very easy to get out too. Unlike Moore Park - stupidly expensive to park on dirt and only 1 exit - took two hours to get out once

However on Saturday night I was coming from Liberty Grove, picked friends at Haberfield at 5.30 went western distrib - cross city tunnel, eastern distrib and dropped them on Anzac pde at the bus stop bang on 5.55 - I then went to Randwick parked went to the front gates of the racecourse got the shuttle bus and was at my seat in the MAN at 6.15pm - fantastic. Perhaps I was just lucky.

if you're in the inner west then train/bus is just the best option. it's amazingly easy and takes equal or less time than driving!!
