    Travel to Homebush

I am a Vic based member, but will be in Sydney and attending the match against the Saints for round 19. Does my membership ticket allow me to travel free on public transport to get there?

    Thanks in advance.

Sure does, all travel that day is free out to Olympic Park if you have a ticket to the match (well wearing red and white is enough actually, never had my ticket checked). Easiest if you are staying in the city is to go to Central and catch the express out there.

They leave from the Country Terminal at Central, from around 4pm normally.

If you are going earlier, catch a train to Lidcombe and then the Olympic Sprint from there, which takes a few minutes.

I'll be staying in Newtown/Erskinevile at my Sister in laws place. So I assume I just catch the train there and change at central. Thanks for the help.

Yep, you are going backwards to go forwards doing that, but it is a lot quicker than an all stops from New Town and changing somewhere else.

You can get off at Redfern and catch it from there also (which is one stop before Central)

The express trains are CENTRAL - REDFERN - STRATHFIELD - OLYMPIC PARK.

There are buses from everywhere as well. www.131500.com.au is a pretty good site for organising trips.

Redfern is closer mate. But you have to not only negotiate the stairs up & down to the next platform but the local Aboriginals who harass you for money.

Don't bother doing the Inner West All Stops to Strathfield. It takes forever.

PS:- If I get my tax back quick enough I might pop up for the game.

Redfern is a much much easier place to change than Central. It has the major advantage that all trains to OP leave from the same platform. From Central, successive trains can leave from opposite ends of a very long line of platforms, meaning that you can run to one end only to miss a train, and then have to rapidly walk back to the other end of the station to catch another leaving a few minutes later.

Additionally, far smaller crowds to contend with, and I can't say I have ever been hassled by anyone, either inside or outside of Redfern station.

definitely go to redfern, its easier to negotiate. i'm there everyday and only get asked for money outside the station so you'll be right

also, check the train timetable before you head out because erskineville an all stations stop and trains don't come all that often.

The only place where it's not free transport is the Airport link train.... Just in case you're planning on using that on the day...

i've never had that happen within the station. i'm not suggesting that it's not happened to you but i don't believe it's so regular as to actually be a problem.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Do they still go every 30 minutes at either 11 mins past the hour or 41 minutes past the hour?

They do go every 15 on the Inner West line GS14. McDonaldtown is only a 5-7 minute walk from Erko Station up Charles St.

I'm often carry giant flagpoles, so I get left alone.

But I have seen ladies harrassed there sometimes. A couple of handbags snatched too.

Still more often than not the upstairs area of Redfern is teeming with either normal cops or Cityrail grey Gestapo guards. So it is safe, even if the odd person does ask you for money.

Surprisngly no Cityrail trackwork that weekend in the Sydney Metro area, so either way should have no worries about getting to/from Olympic Park.

If it's a hot chocolate I might consider it.

If you're serious pm me your number and I'll try to fit it in. I don't know what my wife and her sister have planned for the few days that we are staying with her.
