He pretty much peaked with his Cleo Bachelor of the Year nomination. Bolton, that is. Hopefully Malceski can move on.

      I beg to differ son.
When he first played seniors, he was often compared to Kells for his courage - i.e. he wasn't scared to throw his whole body into a competition. As I said before, more often than not, he's on the bottom of a pack.

He began as a Magnum ... now, he's shooting in the 9mm range ... you know, the type of gun little old ladies in america carry around in their handbags.
When he chooses he still packs a punch (albeit a slightly less damaging one).

... Sanecow ... I reckon you're about right with the timing of his "poorer" form.

You need to have a few more qualities than courage to be classified as a gun.

Remember his first two or three years ... he was touted as the next Paul Kelly. He was on top of the ball at just about every stoppage (he still is). His kicking was accurate, he could pop through the odd goal and just was all round BOG for most games.

This style of play has really lessened over the years to the point where most of his disposals are ineffective and every time he lines up for a goal I hide behind my hands till it's all over!

It's gotta be a hard slog keeping up that level of fitness to be able to play like that week in week out ... that's why Kels was such a freak - he did it for years and years.

It just seems that these days, the kids are great for a few seasons, they get complacent - slack off, and it's mirrored in our results.

Throwing yourself into packs doesn't make you a gun. His disposal has never been particularly accurate or effective.

As one of the leading midfielders he didn't break through 15dpg until 2003. He has never managed to average more than 21dpg.

He's never kicked more than 15 goals in a season. His career average is less than one goal every two games.

He's only kicked more than 2 goals in one game.

He's only had more than 25 possessions in a game a dozen times.

He's certainly nowhere near been BOG in "most games" and he's not a patch on Kelly.
