If you want to point a finger, point it at Nick Davis....

Everyone here seems so quick to point the finger of blame at Barry Hall for our forward line inefficiency while on the other hand either constantly criticising the midfield for not looking for Nick Davis more often or defending Davis when he has an off game.

The truth is Hall had one of his best games for the season on Sat night (bar his kicking to goal). His hands were good for one of the few times this season and he won it in most individual contests with one of the most improved defenders in the comp.

At the same time, Davis, supposedly our most reliable shot for goal and x-factor, went missing. If anyone should have been putting their hand up in the midst of our poor kicking for goal, it should have been him.

How do you propose him to kick goals if his teammates don't kick it to him?

Also, where was MOL? No shots at goal for 0 goals and 0 behinds from a key forward in 'great' form.

Davis was doing a lot of hard work elsewhere on the ground - Roosy plays him as a midfielder, not as a forward.

Which is what a key forward is meant to do!

Considering TOG, Davis was able to get the ball more often than O'Keefe, Ablett, MOL, Schneider, Hall and McVeigh.

Don't you know he is working the hardest when you cant see him?

Having said that, I dont think he's responsible for the loss.

How anyone can possibly criticise Hall while defending Davis based on the weekend's performance is beyond me...

If Nick Davis had 6 shots at goal we would have won the game.

I don't quite understand your point though given that Hall was the main target up forward while Davis rotated through about 3 different positions on the night.

Well I don't think they really need to have their footballing opinion taken that seriously.

I am tired of all the excuses that Davis is given. "The midfield don't kick it to him", "he is ignored by everyone", "if he only was given the opportunity" etc etc. Well how about IMPOSING himself into a contest? Or how about trying to CREATE an option? Or how about stop being so damn LAZY! Most of the time, he is useless. Whether it's because he is ignored or lazy, it's still useless.

The worst aspect of Davis game was that he allowed Adcock to run away from him off their half back line and set up Brown. He was struggling to put any pressure on him which meant more pressure on our backline. Adcock had 22 possessions and killed us after half time.

Ah yes, I forgot to allude to that. You are quite right.

Davis did OK, but Spida could not out-tap Leuenberger at the start of the last quarter, three brilliant taps and clearances to the Lions, three goals in 2 mins and 20 seconds. Spida just couldnt get off the ground, might have just been exhausted.

The Swans played with much improved intensity and speed of disposal against one of the form teams.

They are ramping up very very well.

That's a quality response that one. If you bothered to use the half a brain you have, you would have noticed that at the date I signed up as a member to this forum, he was indeed quite the "gun".

The point is that Hall presented himself time and time again. He created chances for himself. He may well have been the main target up forward but there were plenty of times players looked/ were looking for other options up forward. Davis may well have converted 5-6 of his chances if he had them but he didn't and NEVER DOES create those chances.

It's easy to say that Davis' impact up forward was affected by his rotation through positions further up teh ground, but I think you'll find that such rotations were only made because he wasn't delivering any impact on the game in the first place.

And I agree MOL didn't have a great game, but what does that have to do with Nick Davis' performance? Or is that what you need to resort to now in his defence: "Oh, yeah, but, what about...."
