    pathetic,pathetic,pathetic

Possibly the worst game under Paul Roos. Mistakes riduled the night. Buchanan trying to smash the pack, I thought he thought he was Willie Mason. Goodey although he was almost the only Swan to earn his stripes, made a number of mistakes particularly when he tries to kick sideways he picked out a couple of pies a number of times. Buckley breaking the tackle of CB and turning around AG in the 3rd quarter made them look like fools. Bevan continues to get a game how beats me. McVeigh and Benny M back to their old selves the list goes on. Perhaps for this year we would be better off loosing next week aand missing the eight because the way they played tonight they will be an embarrassment to themselves and us supporters.
We do not turn over enough players ,because we won a premiership does not mean we should not turnover a number every year. I guess you can see from my tone that I am very disappointed, I have been following the Red and White for many a long year,I dont mind getting beat but its the way you get beat and play that is so disappointing.

    yep.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Our two worst games of the season have been against the Pies, facing them in the finals will be a nightmare.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

yep hit it on the head. Just how we all feel I think... we definetly need to be aggressive in the trade window but knowing Roos this year he will be like "Oh I dont think we need to change what we did much". Cant wait to hear the same old excuses rolled out again this week.

Bevan, Mathews and Bolton NEED to go. They are liabilities, pure and simple. They failed to perform tonight, against quality opposition.

Believe it or not......I actually rated Bevan's game.....I don't think you can blame the back line for this loss....

Not that I want to really go there again but bl***dy Mathews was the one and only guy who had a chance to stop Black last week when he (black) chased it to the boundary line and mathews followed his man Power there BUT DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO STOP THE BLOKE THAT HAD THE BALL, INSTEAD, FOCUSING ON HIS MAN WHO DIDN'T. Ok, i have that off my chest.....back to tonight. Frustration of the highest order as tackle after tackle is missed, they just didn't look interested??? Grrrrrrrrrrr. And the forward line is as predictable as Paris Hilton on the red carpet and we must do something different. Play Hall as a genuine decoy unless he gets a clear lead and you can kick to him out in front, NOT IN THE AIR and kick the bl***dy thing to one of the other forwards who should be making space - like Collingwood did - derrrrrr!!!!!
Patterns emerge, but do they mean anything? No.

Went to the game tonight, hell we looked slow!
McVeigh is not a good enough athlete for his size and he has nothing else.
Mathews can not be in the side when Kennelly is out. We need more runners down back.
Brennan needs time but doesn't look much.
Jude Bolton tries hard but can't kick properly.
barlow played poor but will be good with time.
                    Goodes was absolutely brilliant!
Roos was thrashed tonight with the set plays and match ups and did not have a plan B at all. very disappointing!
We can not win another premiership anytime soon unless we trade well as our best players are getting old.
Mathews, J Bolton, McVeigh should be delisted or traded.
We need to find a proper midfield player who is capable at getting a decent clearance other than goodes. kirk, ablett, bolton etc can't seem to do this.

lets face it we weren't quite there this year. its a worry for next year

swanette's point is one which I made last week. Matthews is so one-dimensional that he fails to play for the team. it is very frustrating.

To me, this insipid performance (yet again, in a match that MATTERED) only highlights where we REALLY are as a team. We were fortunate in 2005 to hit it at the right time...in 2006 we didnt come to play in the first half of the GF and we hit a team that may well and truly have been flying high. It shows really that there isn't a team around that can hold a candle to the Lions' three consecutive premierships and four consecutive GFs, built with quality players and quality coaching.
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I think it's unfair to criticise or downplay the teams achievements in 05 and 06. Even I'm having trouble finding many highpoints this season.

Are we the slowest team in the AFL?

I fortunately didn't watch much of the game last night but from the snippets I saw the Pies looked so much faster than us.
