LRT to ruck! 2 birds with one stone.
Dead rubber...time to make changes

I have no idea why anyone would say it's a dead rubber. We will have a say in who we play in week 1 of the finals; in particular, to have a chance of playing Hawthorn in an elimination final off the back of beating the week before, would be fantastic.
And no, I still have no doubts that we won't win the flag (nor most likely even make the prelim) this year. It's just that there's no substitute for getting finals experience and success into players. See, for example, 2004-5.Comment

Yep - it's good experience for some of the younger players.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Was it last year? I thought it was in his debut year against Adelaide for which he won the Rising Star nomination.Comment

Dead true. The likes of Schmidt, Laidlaw and Grundy, who have been in-and-out of the 22 this year and we hope will form a part of future Swans flag-winning sides, should be given priority in selecting the team if their form indicates they're about the mark.
However, talk of dumping senior players to give debuts to the likes of Jesse White, Brabazon et al in a final, is just crazy talk that would do neither them nor the team any good.Comment

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Even during the pies playing keeping off, when the entire two teams were in our defensive half. He was calling for someone to come forward to take his man so he could leave him and chase the ball holder, by the time some one did the ball was kicked out to the wing and the chance to put any pressure on was gone.Comment

I wouldn't expect the selection committee to make too many changes (fear driven) but I would think you'd rest the injured and at least bring in LRT. How can a defender find form in the ACT in a team with a percentage ~400?! It's a BS competition.Comment

It is a dead rubber ..no matter whether the swans win or loose their finals opponents will be decided by other results as much as their own.
Roosy should drop those not contributing and rest those with niggling injuries.
You never know it may revitalise some players, ie Hall, MOL etc.
What is obvious is that the current team needs a lift/change, they have become predictable and stale..all the top sides know how to shut us down.
Roosy's only hope is to change a few things in the hope it gives the team some spontaneity back.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment
