In/Outs for EF v Pies

No matter which way you cut it, the INs of Hall, Kenelly & Buchanan are pretty big ones.

Unfortunately, three will need to make way for them to come in (Which they will). But who goes?

Barlow was good yesterday and has seemed good since making his debut. Hard to make a case for dropping him.

Dempster too was good, but hasn't given a lot this year. He's probably out.

Ablett with injury.

So that leaves one more to squeeze out and I don't think it will be Schneider.

B2 might have had an ordinary game, but he's still in AA form and won't be going anywhere.

I'm actually surprised that everyone's whipping boy Bevan hasn't been mentioned. I mean 6 pages of posts and no ones's put the slipper into him. What's going on here?

Crouch maybe but I do like the thought of him putting the saddle on and riding the likes of Buckley to the ground.

I agree, RP, on Crouch, without Ablett we need a run-with stopper and Crouch is experienced, wily and played with a lot of confidence yesterday. Some good bursts out of the centre and he's kicked 2 goals in 2 weeks.

Don't under estimate Barlow. He may lack experience but he's shown maturity beyond his age and sound decision making under pressure. He has good skills, speed and a bit of an unknown quantity as far as the Pies are concerned. And he can kick straight!

Intense tackling and pressure, combined with getting the ball quickly into our forward line will beat Collingwood. Concentrating on tagging opponents and forgetting about getting the ball will see yet another loss to Collingwood.

To that end I think Crouch needs to go out for Schmidt. Crouch still looks unfit and we need players to get the ball.

My issue with Buchanan is that we are playing Collingwood - he has played poorly against them and given his little incident last week I think that may affect his performance.

I don't think Buchanan will be an automatic selection in the same way Hall or Kennelly will be if fit.

We know Roos likes to be conservative with his team changes and I just wonder if 3 'ins' will be considered too much considering we've just beaten a highly rated finals side by 72 points.

The 22 that did the job convincingly yesterday must be given a good chance to hold their spots and anyone who misses out will be hard done by.

I think that's the key right there.

Based on what Roos had to say after the game it seems that Crouch is going nowhere and Tiger just needs to get through training to get a game.

I like him a lot. There were a couple of passages of play (I think at least one lead to a goal for Davo from a Schneider assist) where Barlow just went hard at the ball and had that excited/reckless young player thing of just wanting to get the ball and impress (Goody Stella pointed out that he clearly wanted to impress so much that he jumped the fence and went and got the footy from the construction area himself). I think at one point he cleaned up a Hawks player and ran over them, got it forward with his shin, then his hand, smashed into another Hawks player... fun stuff to watch. I don't think he even actually ended up with a stat for it himself, but it was exciting to watch and great to have in the team. Bevan brings it a bit, and LRT can too at times, but I think that Barlow reads the play a little bit better and when he has done it he doesn't appear to be forced to do it to cover his own fumbles

I think Schmidt has close to zero chance of coming in this week - unless there is a major spate of injuries at training during the week.

I certainly can't see any of yesterday's 22 being dropped on form for him (including Crouch). And with Hall, Buchanan and Kennelly all possibles to return in place of the injured Ablett, that closes off the only other possible avenue for him.

I think it highly unlikely too, but we desperately need players who can dispose of the ball effectively when we play Collingwood.
