    Hall, Buchanon in.
    Ablett, Cheese out.

Tough on cheese, but its finals football, and you need hard matured, seasoned bodies.

cheese will get plenty of chances in the coming years, or coming weeks if we cope a few injuries.

Crouch wont get dropped, because he was brought in 2 weeks ago especially for finals.

I rate Buchanan as our third best clearance player - behind just Kirk and Goodes. He's certainly more proven in that department than Schmidt.

That said, I wouldn't necessarily bring him back in - as already stated in this thread - simply because he's played two pretty ordinary games this year against the Pies.

If you want to bring back Buchanan then you would expect to replace like with like, hence Jude Bolton. Why is it that Jude Bolton's place is never in question.

As far as I am concerned Barlow was far more value than Bolton today. Can anyone at the game tell me if Bolton was in the centre bounces today. It is hard to pick up on TV who is in there all the time, but one of the big things we turned around was our centre clearances. I couldn't see Jude in there too much. We didn't seem to do much blocking and for once attacked the footy.

The player on really shaky ground is Schnieder. Didn't kick a goal today and was very ordinary. If Roosey decides to play Malceski up the ground, keep Dempster in and bring Buchanon back there probably is no place for him. Schnieder has missed gettable vital goals in the previous two matches and was very ordinary today. He is the player most out of form in the side at the moment.

Noggy out (injured) and Bucky in! No other changes

(Sorry BBBB - maybe the week after?)

Elevate Keiran Jack if Noggy season is really over.

Amazing isn't it - he is giving us absolutely nothing. We would be far better served replacing him with Schmidt or Moore or Buchanan or Barlow r Laidlaw or...

Had a very disappointing game today.

I don't, he gave Hodge an absolute bath in the first half and got a bit of it himself. Just about our best.

Your entitled to your opinion of course and I agree his season has been poor by any standard, but if you thought he was ordinary today you are clueless.

Our forward line looked awesome today. Why risk it by bringing Hall back?

                        Interesting response...

My main comment continues to focus on the offensive side of his game, which is poor.

Overall this has been a horror season for Ablett. Started off with no pre-season after the hammie problems from the end of last year, then injured his knee the same week Kennelly first did his, has had illness and other niggling injuries to contend with.

I like him as a player and think that generally he brings a good blend of defence and attack. And I agree with BBB that his first half job on Hodge - who was one of the most likely to spark up his team mates - was sensational.

My main comment was to your interesting response... that you were 'staggered' that Ablett was rated in the Top 3 in the first half.

I thought Ablett was one of the best, if not the best. Considering we led by 12 goals, top 3 doesn't sound particularly staggering.

Using this post, I would only bring back Buchanan next week IF we dropped Schneider. But that isn't going to happen (dropping Schneider) I wouldn't think. I have always thought (going back to early 2005) that Schneider and Buchanan can't play in the same side to together. Somehow they managed to work it in end to win a Premiership in 05 and get back to the GF last, but this has been a shocker for Buchanan and not much better for Schneider (who is at least kicking goals - most weeks).

Today I felt Schneider was OK without being great (maybe if he kicked those goals instead of behinds his game would of been looked at differently) but the team balance in the defence and midfield looked as good as its been all year (I'm not going to talk about the forward line because we just all know....). Whatever reason that was, be it Buchanan missing or the fact we had our defence back together finally (minus Kennelly), we had our balance right for once this season going forward and helps the forward line regardless of its makeup.

End of the day I think Barlow can make way because he isn't really used for match up's at the moment and we WILL bring Hall back (regardless of how good the forward line looked) and he really is the only person I can think of dropping. Dempster? No. LRT? No. I rather replace Ablett (If injury does force him out) with Schmidt than Buchanan (and I'm not THINKING of risking Kennelly). If Ablett plays then just the one change and that should be Barlow out for Hall.
                              Once was, now elsewhere

The AFL site doesn't measure it based on defence - just stats. It also doesn't measure the quality of his disposals, half of which were grubbers or floaters.
I wouldn't have thought he was our best player or even in the top few.
