Yep, an absolute joke. We have decided to drive instead and spent a bit more on the accommodation.

I'd better not be with all those feral Pies supporters!
The Pies supporters had the Ponsford Stand in Round 21 but there was plenty of red and white around...we had the Ponsford Stand for the GF in 2005 & 2006. The club wasn't sure which end we're going to get when I asked yesterday

Have you not looked at Virgin Blue? Still flights at $279 or $320 all day.

For the first 3 weeks of finals at the "G" the members will be spread out amongst many different bays not like it is on GF day.

That is because come GF day the only large block of seats that are left for members are the ones behind the goals, the rest go to corporates and 16 club distribution entitlements.

For the record I beleive the cheersquad are in M3, with another 2 bays of swans members further around the Southern Stand in M9 and M10. There also seems to be a bay (M54) in the Olympic Stand.

The Ponsford stand becomes the Pies "members stand" for their home games (as part of their deal with the MCG) so I assume they will again have first dibs on it as the home team on Sat night (even though the AFL controls all Finals ticketing - though one never knows with the AFL)

It wouldn't even occur to me to look at Virgin Blue. My only experiences with them haven't been good. And flying to Melbourne I'd only think about them as an absolute last resort given that you get delivered closer to Geelong than Melbourne.

Just consoled myself with getting more FF points on a more expensive Qantas flight than I would with a bargain basement ticket.

I think you're confusing Virgin with Jetstar. Virgin flies into Tullamarine, Jetsar flies into Avalon from Sydney.

Liz, you are thinking of Jetstar. I am flying down with QANTAS on Sat morning and flying home on Sunday night on Virgin for $239. Virgin are a good airline...clean, friendly and safe. Virgin definitely flies only into Tullamarine.
                              Swannies for life!

Liz you definitely have Virgin mixed up with Jetstar, give them a chance as they fly straight out of Tullamarine and actually usually are alot more friendlier (in my experience) than Qantas.
