Continuity is a good thing. The team last week gelled well and seemed happy with each other. That esprit de corps is a hard thing to define and so the less meddling the better.

A common spirit of comradeship, enthusiasm, and devotion to a cause among the members of a group.

          A good definition

I suspect the fact that Buchanan's played two very ordinary games against the Pies this year - getting towelled up both times by Clarke - might have something to do with it.

Point taken but McVeigh, Dempster, Crouch, Barlow and Bevan in the side ahead of a proven finals performer in Buchanan doesn't sit well with me.

Buchanan was best on the ground 3 or 4 weeks (admittedly against Melbourne) ago. Those blokes above have never been best on the ground in their lives.

... and outside of McVeigh play vastly different roles within the team.

Out of those, I would only swap McVeigh, Crouch or Barlow for him.

Maybe Roos is doing a little bit of butt kicking. Telling Amon to sit out another match for his out of line hip`n shoulder last time. Maybe he`ll be pumped enough after we kick the wobbles arse so he`ll come back in to whip the WC the week after.

Very poor performance against the dorks. From memory I can't even remember seeing him out there. On the bench again!

Only if the interchange "defenders" are used as defenders. We have three players who have played primarily as defenders on the interchange - Cheese, Crouch and Dempster. Either Cheese and Dempster will be given run with roles in the midfield on Pendelbury and Bucks respectively or Bevo will take Bucks and Dempster will play on the half back flank. There is still a lot of attacking flexibility there. The fact that Buchanon hasn't been picked suggests that Cheese will be matched up on Pendelbury. The important thing for our attacking game is that Malceski is played up the ground.

A 'run with' role is still a defensive role. 'Eski is being released into the midfield because it desperately needs help - hopefully he can give it some spark.

The only problem is it might be our last game of the season if he sat out the Grand Final a couple of years ago we still wouldn't have a premiership.
Barlow hasn't earned his place in the finals Buchanan has.
