Was it a mistake to include Hall?

    .....I think so.

I asked during the week why he should be included and I got "He is the leading goal kicker"---What a load of tripe.

He was pitiful tonight, and his season in general hasn't been much better. Our forward line looked a million bucks last week, this week it was a rabble. And I don't think that's a coincidence either.

He needs to have a good hard look at himself over the summer, and whoever is in charge of our forward line needs to have a harder look.

I said it last week that we should leave him out again, for this exact reason. Our coaching staff is weak and never dare to try anything creative.

      Yes.

Personally I think that he should have been rested for as long as it took for his knee to heal properly when he injured it earlier in the season. His form during the season tends to prove me to be right.

Hall should retire and go into boxing

He's not the forward he once was, kicking 75+ for 3-4 yrs in a row.

Without Hall we are more "potent"

I'd rate Tredrea and Brown over Hally in the big power forward stakes.

Hall was Wakelin's bitch in the first game.

Hall was Wakelin's bitch in the second game.

          Hall was Wakelin's bitch tonight.

I can see a pattern here.

I can see how it would be hard to leave him of the team but he was pretty ordinary.

                Yes. He was very ordinary.

His attitude was simply embarassing and trying to crash into players and hoping to break free from the tacklers is frustrating to watch.

Yep. But you could add some names to that list.

no. his performance in return games has been good this year. his record in finals is increasingly questionable however. -
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

                        Yes.

He used to be a menacing presence but now just seems petulant. Whether he's carrying injuries or not, his head is not right.

Personality and attitude play a big part in sport.

Hall is now close to a liability - cannot take a contested mark, is no longer a major presence in the forward line, distracts the team from an effective forward structure.

I think he can still be a useful player. He might do better if he was relieved of captaincy responsibilities, has the surgery etc. he needs, and for Roos to tell him to just go out there and enjoy himself. He seems way too frustrated to me.
Having said all that, I think the basic problem is the midfield. Contrast Baz scrabbling for the ball tonight with Rocca, Cloke etc. who took front position and had the ball dropped in their laps.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

The only spot I can see left for Hall is back to the days when he played as a roving CHF - out from the F50 to wing.
