I don't think wholesale rebuilding is necessary, however, re-structuring or renewing the list should be happening even whilst we are still being relatively successful.

Roos did not believe Sydney?s game plan needed an overhaul. From 51 inside-50 entries, the Swans managed just 13 goals. They also lost the hard-ball-get count 43-37.

?No, I don?t think so,? Roos said when asked if his team needed to change its approach.

?I think our style has stood the test of time and Brisbane?s before us - we basically copied their style.

?We need to look at players from other clubs to stay up the top of the ladder.?

Oh dear Roosy, you are starting to sound like Rodney Eade. You stubborn SOB.

?Out of respect to the players who played the last five years, I?ll give them first crack again next year and see what happens.?

Of the 22 that tackled Collingwood, only one ? Ed Barlow ? was under 21. By contrast, Collingwood had eight players under who were 20 years old or younger.
You stupid @@@@!! Work out that players like Barry, J Bolton and Crouch are beyond it - your loyalty to them will see us slide further down the ladder.

One would hope this is just trying to put a positive spin for the Media, if Roos is genuine in those thoughts we could be battling Carlton for number one draft pick in the 2009 draft.

To be fair, in the modern game, you just can't completely clear out your list. The likes of Crouch, Mathews and Barry have no trade currency. We haven't really got any good picks, and have gaping holes in the list as it is (key defence and outside midfield). There's no point culling players left, right and centre if you can't replace them.

Crouch and Mathews have delist currency though.

Yeah, but TBH I'd prefer them to McVeigh and Bevan. Let them go on their own terms.

Smell the roses you knob Roos. If he cant see we need to bite the bullet and do some trades and delist others and rebuild NOW then we will have an even worse year next year. I wouldnt care if we came last next year if we took the chance and cut the deadwood, traded for some younger blood and generally blooded some of our younger players. But if we miss the eight and come somewhere like 11 or 12th cause Roos is still play old pals every week I will not be a happy camper.

If either get delisted, I will streak at the Swans first home game for 2008.

Reading between the lines he is saying we are in decline and I have no idea what in the hell to do.

To say that we have been an honest bunch all year is simply pissing in the pockets of an inconsistent bunch instead of some tough talk saying we need a serious look at the list to see how we can tweak it to stay at the top.

Recruiting players from other clubs that are clearly second teer players smacks of Eade and Sheedy of the last 5 years. This is simply coaching for the coach's sake and not the club and sinks us into mediocrity, which is all we achieved this year.

We dropped off the pace this year because of ageing legs, poor coaching against top sides, lack of player guts in the midfield and the refusal to play players on form and leave younger players lamenting in the 2's.

To bring back the likes of Crouch at the end of the season was just mind bogglingly stupid and embarrasing.

In previous seasons we had 2-3 new players step up and become important players in the team.

This year we've only had Barlow (for a handful of games) and Everitt the pensioner. That either means we haven't given the youngsters a chance or they are simply not up to it and we are in for years of natural decline whether Paul Roos wants to admit to it or not.
