The way I read what JF said was that when you lose a family member (provided you don't feel its before time), yes you're sad, but you rally around and try to remember the good times, and the laughing and reminiscing is something that eases that pain a bit.
What hurt more?

I really can't see anyone in a few weeks time even comparing this loss to 2006. I know it's a real @@@@ to lose last night but I can't even bring myself to compare the pain of losing a grand final by 1 Point to being outplayed and thrashed in an Elimination final. Just doesn't even come close.
Maybe I am just strange, but when it comes to 1996 and 2006, I really still have an issue seeing footage of the Roos or Eagles celebrating, however was able to watch news coverage reasonably easy (with a tinge of sadness of course!!) of the Collingwood game last night.
We finished 7th and lost our final as per our seeding suggested. Just got to hope Roos and co can find a way to lift us beyond that next year.
Maybe the hurt for some people is more about a golden era potentially ending in an undignified manner, than the loss itself?.Last edited by Damien; 9 September 2007, 03:20 PM.Comment

What really hurts
What hurt is losing to Collingwood three times in the one year, each time by a greater losing marginLast night was our biggest loss of the year, and that really hurts
Let's be honest, this wasn't our season. We have struggled with too many injuries to key players and it shows. I just hope Kennelly hasn't suffered permanent knee damage, because we are not the same team when he's not there.Comment

It is really freaky having to say Merry Christmas to people who have been a part of your lives every second week for the last 6 months. In early September FFS!
No banner-making, no Clarendon Street pizzas, no nothing until next April. Am going to miss that crazy to be honest.
JFNow this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Just back in Sydney from Melbourne and I have to say last night hurt more than last year's GF 'cos I had to sit with Collingwood people at last night's game. I can now say I now know why everyone HATES Collingwood - they are feral and the umpires do listen to the crowd factor. Couldn't believe how many HTB decisions there were against us. Until last night I had only been to Collingwood V Sydney games in Sydney. One positive is that having now seen part of the Geelong V Kangaroos game and the final score then Kangaroo supporters must be feeling worse and let's face it Geelong will win the GF. I felt so bad last night that I will even be supporting WC next week.Comment

Meh, the sun will rise again tomorrow and the last time I checked the team will be going around again next year where at some point we will win games and also lose them.
The last 5 years have been a time to cherish and if takes another 5+ years to get there again all that will mean is I will cherish the time even more next time around.
Talk of bottom 4 displays are rubbish, go and have a long chat with suffering Richmond, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs and Geelong (if they don't win this year) supporters and see what they think about the current situation the Swans find themselves in.

Not much to cherish about 2004 or 2007!
2003 was fun, but cherish is a bit strong. Same with 2006.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I still think this is a silly thread. Losing a GF by a point has got to be the worst thing in footy. Last night sucked, and it wasn't pretty watching us get taught a footy lesson by the 'Pies...again, but we've looked out of sorts for most of this year, IMO, and never really looked like being a flag chance.Comment

the 2006 Gf def hurt more... i was at the game and very tanked, and then had a long slow walk back to work in southbank... i got over last night pretty quickly mainly because we;ve been @@@@e all year and i didnt expect as much.. but now Im feeling pretty angry about Roos' response to our loss... FFS!Comment

Definitely the 2006 GF. I still have to shut my eyes whenever I see any image of WCE celebrating their premiership win. I can't wait until after the 2007 GF so that I no longer have to look at this obnoxious sight when it appears in tv commercials or in newspapers. I hope the pies smash WCE next week.Comment
