    Players out before game

I was down in Melbourne Friday night and saw a heap of Swans players out at Crown.

Around 9pm on my blackjack table, this big guy with a green polo and hat sits down, buys $2000 worth of chips and gets into it. I look twice and see it's the one and only Barry Hall. After losing most hands he walks a couple of tables down and lo and behold - Davis, Crouch, Dempster and Cheese are doing similar.

They weren't drinking, but it was pretty annoying that they were out for a big one the night before a massive elimination final. I left around 9.30pm and they were still going strong.

Pretty disappointing and was certainly no surprise to me that we lost after what I saw.

This is definitely the most stupid thread started in the last few days.

You are entitled to your opinion.

A night out at the casino before the game, in my opinion, is hardly ideal preparation for a finals game.

If they weren't drinking I don't see the problem.

We obviously have different opinions on what a 'big one' is.

They were playing Saturday night. Out having a bet 24 hours before a game, especially if they're not drinking, is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Looks like I'm easily on my own on this one.

I'm still standing by the point that night out before game = tired players the next day.

I have no problems with it, were there races on at Flemington on Saturday? Odds of a Davo spotting there too? ;0
If it was only a handful of players at around 9 pm (and not drinking) it's actually kind of nice to see that there was a mix of old (Hall/Crouch)/middle (Hot Potato)/young (Dempster/Barlow) age players hanging out together and bonding
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Shouldn't they have been watching the Power / WCE game on Fri night? Might have learn't something.

Perhaps they should of had a blinder.

Wouldn't of made any difference to the result.

You don't have to be drinking to be "having a big one".

and so what if they were having a punt at 9 30 pm on a fri night, would you have said the same if you had seen them at the movies.
what arent people meant to go to a casino at the hotel where they are staying and what were you doing there the night before a big game , you should have been assisting the cheer squad with the banner.

Well considering they weren't playing until the following evening, whats wrong with having a few hours relaxing with your mates and so what if it was at Crown, at least it wasn't at a brothel (now then you would have something to complain about had they been "on the job" till the wee small hours) - and I certainly dont call 9.30pm late - I'm sure they would have been allowed to have a bit of a sleep in the next day too. And as you say they weren't drinking, so they really weren't doing themselves any damage.

It wouldn't have made any difference had they stayed at home watching the telly, cup of cocoa in hand and were tucked up in bed in their jim jams by 8pm they still would have lost.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
