    Longmire.

But we at the Swans have never been worried about where we finish on the ladder at the end of the season - rather we just concentrate on winning enough games to make sure we make the finals.
It showed. Despite the "we are ready for finals" rhetoric, the season was considered successful and over after round 22. Actually having to play in the final was a bit of a pain but now that formality is over, on with the party!

I hope when the time is right for me to move on to another role that I have been able to ensure that [midfield coach] John Longmire is ready to take over the senior job and the team is instantly ready to continue meeting the constant challenge of winning AFL matches under its new coach
I am excited to think that our entire team may one day be as focussed on tackling and holding the ball as the midfield! Maybe an entire game plan where you can win a game without ever having possession!

Maybe we could get a midfield coach who has played in the midfield.

Yep. Made this point in another thread.

The current situation seems designed more for the career advancement of John Longmire than winning games. We a need Voss, Riciutto or Buckley.

It's similar to Carlton having Libba as their defensive coach. Nonsensical.

Longmire should go back to training the forwards. We would have had a more successful year had he been where he belonged. In as far as I remember (back to the beginning of the season) I think Roosey gave him the midfield as the runners-up prize for not getting St Kilda (?). I think Roosey said at the time it was designed to give him more experience so that he could move on.

Voss or Buckley (however unlikely) would both be good as they are both good communicators/motivators.

Not sure about Riciutto's communication skills, he's a very quiet person, so may not be as good as the other 2.

Just a red herring maybe, but what about Hird? He is a NSW boy.

I did think of Hirdy as I was typing the previous post. But left it in the "Judd to Sydney" basket.

Love to have Cressa back... Though not sure where he's at???

Hird would be a great coach and mentor for our midfield.

I think they are more correctly termed "husband issues".
