We lacked pace this year. Spriggs had plenty. He may have been useful (he would not have won us a flag).

I don't think you could say he had pace, what he did have was a massive tank which meant he could run all day.

Did we delist Spriggs to early??? In a word, no. The boy was just an ordinary footballer. Hell, we could get Asafa Powell out there to run but if he doesn't know how to play footy then it just ain't gonna work. Speed AND skill are the two necessary components to make a modern day footballer.

I can only answer that after the Reserves finals.

And the ability to kick a decent drop punt without hooking it all the times is another.

The Swans dont keep or use quick players, but it doesn't matter how bad a kick he was we could have just given him the ball and told him to take every one on and have a ping.On the topic...maybe i'm not sure.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Because he goes in & gets the ball at the very least.

Perhaps if the Reserves end up back partnering Port Melbourne they can renew acquanitances with Spriggsy...he had a good year this year in the VFL

Mind you I am hoping we dont go the Port Melbourne option...instead go standalone in the VFL

Funny - that's pretty much word-for-word the justification Rocket used when asked on radio how McVeigh kept getting a game.

Liz and I had this discussion elsewhere, you need receivers who are fast and can break away from the packs. Having all in and under players in the middle seems a bit of overkill. With no "receivers" on the fringes they then choose to force a ball up as there is no-one to give the ball out to when they (the in and under players) do get the ball.

If a kick is hacked in the general direction of half forward at a centre bounce it's a major victory for us.

Surely Spriggs would have been better value, not just last week but all year, than J Bolton or McVeigh.

He was best in a winning team in a VFL elimination final on the weekend.

Best players for the Borough included former Cat and Swan speedster David Spriggs (23 disposals, 2 goals) ...
                              the week before:

Best players for the Borough included former Swan and Cat midfielder David Spriggs (1 goal) ...
                              and the week before that:

While for the Borough Luke Cotchett (2 goals), Jeremy Dukes (1 goal), midfielder David Spriggs (1 goal), Luke Livingston and John Baird were all solid despite the heavy defeat.
                              and the week before:

David Spriggs and Robin Nahas ran amok
He's mentioned in the best quite a bit. Probably has more to offer than most of our reserves.
