How much can the best players command per season?

    Hey everyone,

I'll be the first to admit I don't know too much about AFL.

However, I need to find out roughly how much top players can be expected to earn in the league per season [Spider, Barry Hall, Adam Goodes, Ben Cousins, Buckley, any others I've certainly left out ]

Q: Does anyone have any media articles suggesting how much each of these guys earn? I've read figures such as Cousins being offer 800k a season, and Goodes atleast 500k...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I doubt Iceboy is on 800k but it would be plenty high. I know that the talk is wherever Judd ends up he will be close to if not the 1st Million+ a season player. not really sure though

The deal is reportedly worth between $2.5 million and $3 million and will keep Goodes at the Swans until at least the end of the 2011 season, when he will be 31 years old.
      That's $625,000 - $750,000 per year for Goodes.

Gooding also confirmed that Cousins continued to be paid by the Eagles under the terms of his lucrative contract, understood to be about $800,000 a year.

The AFL's highest-paid player is Carlton captain Anthony Koutoufides, who signed a five-year, $5 million contract in 2000 but took a 21.5 per cent pay cut last season. His manager, David Allison, said Koutoufides was the face of Carlton and deserved every cent.

            That's money well spent.

That's $28,400 - $34,000 per game for the Home and Away season.

Not bad earnings for a couple of hours of footy per week.

1 million a year is the maximum if you ask me.

That's an awful lot of money for a 25-30 year old.

yes, but virually nothing if you look young and are not injury prone

1st year rookie players are on a wage of $44,000 then if they play games they get more. This is a lot of money for a 17 year old.

How do I know this, our college chaplan's son is a 1st year rookie at the Kangas.

I dont think $44,000 a year is alot of money when you have to live out of home, and have expenses like car payments/insurance, rent, bills, living expenses, etc. Especially in Sydney. I make more than that and I still struggle to put savings away for the future. I don't think it should matter what age you are.

Don't they put a few of the kids in houses together? That cuts down costs. $44,000 for a 17 year old is still a lot of money. I don't know too many 17 year olds that earn that much.
