It was announced officially this morning, photo in the paper and everything. Daniher to Essendon. They start out by using their last pick and if anybody wants him earlier they bid.

Essendon has secured Darcy Daniher with their 3rd round pick (No.39) after the Kangaroos bidded their 2nd round pick (No.32).
We didn't even bid for him!!!
We would have had to have bid our 1st round pick to have any chance and even then Essendon could have secured him with their second rounder, so its understandable why we didn't put in a bid.

Why would we waste our time,he has publicly said that he wants to go to the bummers. If we did pick him up we would have had another scenario like one A.Rocca who didnt want to be there.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

We can turn him into a premiership player. The Bombers can't.

Same with Shannon Grant, and though he went in a few years, we got Schwass for him. We got four players for Rocca too, albeit crap ones in hindsight. I wouldn't mind risking losing a second-round pick for a player who would be in demand from another side. A first round pick is a different story, though.
We were never going to bid for him once he picked Essendon due to our second pick being higher than the Don's.
Despite what you may have heard, he was rated around the 20 to 30 mark in the draft.
The only way we could have got him was to offer our first pick and he never was worth pick 11.

Incorrect.
We, along with the other 14 clubs could have nominated to pick Daniher at any pick we want. Pick 3, pick 33, pick 63, doesn't matter, just choose a pick. Once the bids are in, Essendon, being his club of choice must use their next pick to pick him up.
The Kangaroos DID bid for Daniher this morning, fpr pick 32. Essendon then had the option of picking Daniher with their next pick (39) or if they decline, he goes to the kangaroos for their nominated pick.

All you did is just support my arguement.
There was no point in us bidding for him with our second (28) as Essendon were always willing to take him with their third (39) as his value was somewhere around the 20 to 30 mark.
All North Melbourne did today was force Essendon to use one pick higher at round three not round four if no one else bid for him.
So unless North has a third rounder that they beleive Essendon are in the mix for, then it was a nothing exercise.
