Who will be delisted?

Its going to be tough this time as Roos is saying he will give the existing squad another chance.

If we are to delist 3 off the main list, who will they be?

Vogels - yes
Brabazon - no
Thornton - no
Laidlaw - no
Moore - no or perhaps as he isn't getting a go
Phillips - yes as seems to have gone backwards from this time last year Grundy - no but maybe back to SA
Schmidt - no but maybe back to SA
Jack - NO
Faulks - Don't know about this one as doesn't seem to have played and not on injury list
Currie - no
O'Keefe the younger - no
Simkin - don't know as didn't seem to do much in reserves
White - no

From the rookies
Nick Smith - seems to have finished season off very well in his first year
Rowe - probably will go
Barlow - will be elevated for sure
Brennan - probably not as not much better than what we have
O'Dwyer - potential good player so stays on rookie list one more year
Shaw - will go as only reserves standard
M Davis - finished off season well but will it be enough to back up. Probably no

From Seniors
Doyle - we need backup for 1 more year so will stay I think unless traded
Bevan - delisted I hope
Matthews - traded I hope
Crouch - may retire or might be traded or delisted
McVeigh - probably will stay unless traded to Essendon for pick
Fosdike - possible trade to SA
Sneider - trade him now
Bolton - good looking one - trade now


Potential retirees
O'Loughlin - one more year

Only other question is who is off contract now? Jolly is one, who else?

Bevan has as little chance of being delisted as Nick Davis has of being appointed captain.

No-one will trade for Mathews. He retires, is forceably retired, or he stays.

Roosy is really laid back with the critical dealing of the side. I bet he'll leave it to the assistants or the "leadership group" to decide which is a joke. In terms of strategic nous I dont really rate him all that highly. Aside from the 2003-2006 run of finals type footy week in week out well it seems like it was a one trick effort.

Personally I like the way we played in 2003, we were more direct and attacking. For the last 3 years we've been in the bottom 6 attacking wise and top 3 defensive. I stil think we can remain a strong defensive unit but with another quality half back and 2 really good midfielders we can be even better.

Think Geelong and Port Adelaide.

He had a few decent games, mainly against bottom 8 sides. When we played quality sides like Collingwood and the weagles he went to water.

He's not pretty but he gets the job done, just needs to work on his decision making but his first, second and third efforts are to be commended. Tackles well and is often on the bottom of packs - won't be traded.

Bevan wont be traded but a lot of people just dont rate him- myself included. I think there are better options. But he is well and truly a protected species now.

Will be interested to see who goes in terms of delistings- only players that seem to be definetly on the chopping board are Vogels and Phillips. Apart from that, not sure at the moment.

Not sure we had any better options than Bevan fit, firing and ready for senior football this year for the role he played in the team. And after a shaky first couple of games back, Bevan well and truly earned his spot for the rest of the year.

And I'd say Phillips is far from "definitely on the chopping board (sic)". I wouldn't wager that he's completely safe but I doubt he's any more certain to go than at least half a dozen others. On reserves form, at least, he most certainly doesn't deserve to go. It's maybe just some questions about whether he's settled in Sydney plus doubts on whether he'll ever have the build to compete at senior level that probably put him in the mix.

Good point. If he could fit ten pre-seasons into one then he can stay.

There I didn't include Bevan. It was very difficult though.

Swans will get Woods. I think Trade Doyle because after 8 years he won't make the distance anyway. Draft ruckmen possibly otherwise swap Bevan for Doyle on bon voyage list.

Because one's wife wants to go back to victoria and the other's body can't last a season.

I don't understand, but mrs Jolly wants to go back to Melbourne for family reasons BUT will stay in Sydney for another 4 years. I think Swans are offereing 4 years to try to get around her desire.

However, she who holds the jatz crackers gets the dip first. He's gone.

Trade Doyle to Crows and at least we might get a 2nd round pick. They took Fitzy.
