Demetriou gets head stuck up Howard's arse

Disgrace. At the North Melbourne breakfast, in his speech, spent the better part of a minute blowing smoke up 'The prime minister's' arse, thanking Him for His presence support etc of the North Melbourne Breakfast. No recognition whatsover that Rudd was there and that he also addressed the attendees. I would have thought the protocol, particularly at this time, is to be at least obstensibly bipartisan and recognise the attendance of the both the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.

    Thanks for the $14m, Johny.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

So we all know now who Dimwitriou is going to vote for? Was this a Grand Final day function or a Liberal Party function?

I was about to say "that's fine" but then saw that he failed to acknowledge Rudd, and that isn't fine.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

He will kiss Prime Minister Rudds arse at next years breakfast.

The irony of this thread is that there is a widely held view that the AFL are proLabor. That view stems from the recent big clash between the AFL and the Commonwealth over what is the appropriate policy for illicit drugs.

I'm sure next year at the North Melbourne Grand Final breakfast Demetriou will be sucking up to Prime Minister Rudd, and practically ignoring Opposition Leader Costello.

Double irony is that I've heard criticism against Demetriou for (assumed) Labor bias expressed at functions that have nothing to do with politics.

I thought the gist of what he was saying was that John Howard takes time out to turn up every year.
Rudd was probably making his first appearance and probably only because there's an election coming up.
Does anyone expect kudos when they rock up to something for the first time?

I don't even know why the little turd even bothers to turn up.
He's the No. 1 ticket holder for St.George Rugby League club and couldn't give a fig about AFL. He is also partial to dressing up in a poncy Rugby tracksuit when going for a walk. Mind you he would look even more stupid trying to wear an AFL guernsey I guess.

FWIW he also pledged $10 million to a Rugby League hall of fame yesterday. It's all spend, spend, spend yet again...

Is he not allowed to support his favourite rugby league team and also accept an invitation to an AFL breakfast? Everybody else is allowed to support more than one code. Yes, he would call himself a league man, however, I call myself an AFL man yet am still a passionate Sharks supporter.

Kudos? Simple acknowledgement would have sufficed.

Rudd got up to make a speech - well a poor attempt at humour really - all this "I'm Kevin" crap - and what a man - picked Port because the wife told him too - excellent. Dont forget big Kev is a Queenslander - so he follows rugby league too - so should he have been there?. But then again, it wont be Kev who runs the country when he gets elected - it will be the red headed ball breaker Julia Gillard pulling the strings in the back ground.

I thought Dave Hughes chat with Costello was priceless "So are you really good with money or are you just a tight arse?" Costello's response was "the two go hand in hand" both had a good laugh - so I take it that its Ok for Costello to attend these things - after all he is footy mad and Victorian?
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Dave Hughes was as funny as I've seen him that morning.

(A lot funnier than Chopper Read was last night at a comedy gig - don't tell him I said that though)

Yes, he was a mad bay 13 man, back in the day.
