At the North Melbourne breakfast, in his speech, spent the better part of a minute blowing smoke up 'The prime minister's' arse, thanking Him for His presence support etc of the North Melbourne Breakfast. No recognition whatsover that Rudd was there and that he also addressed the attendees. I would have thought the protocol, particularly at this time, is to be at least obstensibly bipartisan and recognise the attendance of the both the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.

The irony of this thread is that there is a widely held view that the AFL are proLabor. That view stems from the recent big clash between the AFL and the Commonwealth over what is the appropriate policy for illicit drugs.

I'm sure next year at the North Melbourne Grand Final breakfast Demetriou will be sucking up to Prime Minister Rudd, and practically ignoring Opposition Leader Costello.
