We need a tall body to play FB so that Leo doesn't have to.

So seems to make some sense.

But Roos reports that he's glad to have found another forward option...
Yes, he did play as a defender in the GF and did a bloody good job, although the Tigers did play like Port so maybe he didn't have any real opposition.

The articles may not be so spot on. Playfair is supposedly being traded for pick 44. We had already earmarked that for Bird (ala The Finger) as required, so what's the go?

We'll take Bird with our 3rd round pick instead.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Geelong fans are laughing at this trade, the next chapter in our penchant for trading Geelong duds.

He must be too tall to play in Roos' backline.

I would have thought Playfair will make a useful key defender. Seems like a pretty good trade to me.

I always thought he was a bit unco! Can't work this one out.

                      Yeah that concerns me.

I have seen him play as a forward. He doesn't do it very well.

We need height in the backline, so play him there.

He struggled big time with Geelong as a forward. He's been best when a defender.

Exactly. Playfair would have been delisted as soon as his contract is up. We could easily have got him via the PSD.

But on the up side he is only 24, and big men dont tend to peak until late 20's so there is some upside.
I'm sure a backline of Playfear, LRT and Bevan is going to keep this board alive with robust debate for the next few years.

We don't play our rookies anyway so even if we managed to land someone half decent with pick 44, I doubt he'd get a game...at least not for a while.

Playfair is worth a shot. He's young and if decent, we'll have a solid KPP to fill the ranks once Leo and the like depart. Worth a gamble I say!

Forward or back....he lumbers around and his second efforts are non existant.
Other than that he is a great pick up.

He played a really really good game at CHB in the VFL Grand Final. I have been a doubter of his for a while but I was staggered at how assured and balanced he was in that game. Not a wrist slashing trade by any means( and I'm one of the first to see doom and gloom)
