Hah! If we actually had space on the list, then I might have been tempted to offer a spot for him. Low risk, low cost, would be able to prop up the goalsquare as a pure full-forward and boot a few goals as a short-term thing.

Fact is, it will be hard enough cutting players so that we can take our mandatory 3 picks at the draft, and you simply can't justify cutting any more kids to take an injury prone player who might have 1 or 2 years left.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Do the kindest thing and roll him back into the ocean.
I might have a slight drinking problem. My husband asked me to toast some bread for him...so I raised my wine glass and said "Here's to bread!"

Is this a nightmare? Are we the rehab centre of the AFL or something?
We've done bad-boy rehab and old people rehab. Do we really need to add family problem counselling to our list?
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

                  I'd happily draft him....

Put him on minimum wage and high end match payments. If he doesn't get fit, perform well enough to make the grade, we don't have a big whole in the salary cap.

He is a very handy player that can play both ends of the ground pretty well.

But the downside to this argument is that he'll take up on a space on the list which would otherwise go to an elevated rookie or a young player.

Our list does not need another 30 year old, let alone one with a chronic knee injury and who has a love for the golden arches which he hasn't been able to shake for his entire football career.

                      He's only 28.
If he could get that body right, and that's not just the knee but the weight as well, he could be great.

Maybe a contract based on his BMI and Body Fat %

I think it's piss poor by Carlton re timing treating their club captain and a club stalwart who has stood by them during THE WORST time in the clubs' history like this. Surely the least they could have done is told him prior to trade week, particularly given they knew mid season that Judd was going to be traded.

The thing about chronic knee injuries is that they tend to be chronic

But that's just media talk. WTF is "Chronic"? I've heard Eades say that!
                          Has he had surgery?
Fix the weight, fix the knee!
You could say Tadhg's left knee is "Chronic" but we aren't chucking him.

                            Source

Carlton chief executive Greg Swann said a medical report convinced the Blues Whitnall's knee would not stand up to another AFL season.
                            And this:

Whitnall conceded his injury was persistent.

?It's still there but it hasn't got worse, that is what the doctors told me," Whitnall said. "They said it could get worse at some stage, but they just gave it a quick clean-out."

MOL also has chronic knee problems.
