I am not against the trading of Schneider but to now be moving another snail into the midfield with horrible skills, Jude Bolton all of a sudden looks a great keep. It will be nice if at the end of 2008 if someone can come up with some comparative stats on Schneider 2007/Bevan 2008 in the midfield if Bevan indeed plays there, and I dont mean Canberra stats
Bevo played as a defensive midfielder in his first year. He also played in the midfield rotation in the 2005 GF. He played on Fletcher I seem to recall. Bevo is a more accurate kick for goal than Schneider who we should not forget managed to kick one behind from 6 scoring opportunities as he wilted against a fierce Collingwood defense in the 2007 final

Not sure how this turned into me wanting Bevan over Schneider... that is not the case... however what I said is true none the less.

Bevan can do that at training, but Schnieder executed a beauty vs Collingwood in front of 65,000 when we were down by 4 goals in the 1st quarter and needed a spark. He also did it from 45m out.

          Ahhh phooey.

Hopefully Australia vs Sreesanth take 2 this summer of cricket will keep me amused!

I agree that we as supporters are yet to see the talented side of Paul Bevan, but talking to the coaching staff and players you soon realise that he impresses them every session at training with his talent-backed party tricks.

For example, left footed checksides from the pocket etc.

They probably didn't realise what he was trying to do was kick the footy into the footy straight, towards the centre of the ground

I admire his effort but he is a footballing horror movie at times

You miss the point. Our side already has a mentality of hard work and courage. The problem is that there is no spark or penetration when Kennelly is out and Davis is down. Dour and gutsy is fine for holding a game, but when we are were a situation where we needed a few quick goals to break a game open, the side often struggled with that last season. Schneider is one of the few players who could help that, and sending him out in place of a player who has not shown the ability to fill that role is a mistake.

I was listening to Liam yesterday when this questions came up.

Don't read anything into him naming Bevan, when he answered the question he named Schmidt straight up but then went searching for some other names and Bevan was the only one that popped into head.

Hardly surprising considering he is likely not to of heard of Moore, DOK, Laidlaw and probably forgot Barlow etc

The other thing of note in his answer was that didn't mount a strong defence for Scheinder and agreed that he had stagnated and a change of club was probably needed for him to make anything further out of his career.

Of other things to note, most of the papers here in Melbourne see our trading week in a postive light and that pick 26 was around where Scheinder sat in a weak draft, but was probably a third rounder in the last couple of drafts.

If I recall correctly he had bugger all ground time in the 2005 GF. I stand corrected though if some one comes up with suitable stats.

To quote the H/Sun - "Was on and off the bench and was a non-factor". Rated 1/4.

Had 57 min on ground - 4th lowest of the 44 players. Just 5 possessions.

Thought so, thats hardly "picking up" Chad Fletcher.

That was a major surprise to see Adam Schneider get traded. I never thought that would happen.

The most disappointing thing is we let him go as apart of a two player deal for a second round draft pick. Dodgy !!

Glad to see Schmidt is up for a permanent promotion to the senior side. I think he will be a good inclusion to our midfield and play better football knowing his position is secure.

I would of rated Schneider higher than bevo as well...... But..... Bevan is actually improving whereas Schneider is, if anything, going backwards. He simply hasn't matched his form of 03 nor has he continued to develop. Bevan has scope for improvement and is a whole lot hungrier for it than Schneider....
