It's fair to say that the situation has changed in the past week.

The poll became redundant after the latest revelations. I certainly don't think Cousins should be considered for football at all next year, but I wasn't of that view before.

However I again totally object to the popping of champagne corks that's been going on over this latest news. This is a human tragedy, devastating on Ben's family first and foremost. I don't think people should be judging Ben or his father unless they themselves have been in that situation.

The fact this relapse all stems from the death of his friend Chris Mainwaring just makes the whole episode a terrible tragedy.

I agree with the sentiment, but just on the last point there is no proof that Mainwaring's death caused this relapse or even proof this was a relapse or just a continuation of his lifestyle.

I based my comment on this article in the Herald Sun

Despite a mountain of lies last week, it's believed the 29-year-old did not touch illicit drugs leading up to the death of great friend Chris Mainwaring. During that time -- March to October -- it's been revealed Cousins supported others in drug rehab in Perth and once, after the Cousins family received a letter from a prominent Australian, he accompanied a person to her first rehab meeting because she was scared.

Following Mainwaring's death, however, Cousins' life spiralled out of control.

Listen hammo he is an adult and you cant blame his friends death for his misdemeanors. When my mother died i was very upset and angry but i didnt spiral out of control/take drugs( well copious amounts of alcohol) because i'm and adult and i made the right decisions,he didnt plain and simple. This tragedy you talk about i dont here you or a few others say that about every other person who goes down that path.I have seen both sides of this with friends of mine going down the drugs path and you right its not pretty.

I gave 2 of them jobs and all they did was @@@@ in my face and steal money from me.One of them even threatened to kill my family over a lousy $75 that he said i owed him which i didnt.I confronted him and belted the @@@@ out of him and told him if he ever talks too or comes with in cooee of my family the repercussions will be worse next time. The other bloke who knows what happend to him and personally i dont care.I tried to help them out and all they did was throw it back in my face.I was pretty close to having a time -out with my wife because of those two dickheads.

I have no sympathy for Benny at all,he has brought it all on him self.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

You are obviously very biased on this topic then.
Given your feelings, are you one of those people who'd 'tear up their membership' if Cousins was drafted by the Swans?

And that's from revelations over the past week. Who knows what other revelations/scandals are to follow from him in the future. I think it's fair to say you don't quite know what to expect from Ben these days.

Oh so someone has asked that people can't make comments unless they have been down that path, and now when someone who has been down that path does make comment, they are told they are being biased? I'm confused.

But that's just speculation. It's just the same speculation that has people suggesting Ben was also there when Mainwaring was taking drugs on the night he died. So the question remains, did he provide the drugs to Mainwaring? Now Mainwaring's dad wants Cousins to explain what happened that night.
