No need for the back wax, otherwise it sounds good!

Yes but Souths Juniors kept Souths afloat for many years
and Penrith used to get massive amounts of money from the Panthers.

That said they are much more financially sound then "Club Sydney" -- losses the last few years and they rent their premises rather than own them.

I think the main problem with the Aussie Rules club is location, location, location.

Kings Cross is like sideshow alley on steroids. It's a bitch-fight getting into the cross, and once you're there, finding parking is almost impossible.

The club itself is "noice" (took ages to do the renos), but it doesn't offer nearly as much as the Bourbon & Beefsteak downstairs. It's no different to any other club in this city ... cheap beer, mediocre food and pokies.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

But now it's "ours"!!! Does that make a difference?

When was the last time you turned down a cheap beer anyway Annie?

I even turn down free beer ... free (or discount) scotch on the other hand ...

How about we get all the kids together, pick a date and go there for an away match to test the facilities?

Clubs in NSW can provide grants to sporting teams. Every Leagues club provides grants to their Rugby League sides, most are around a minimun of 1.5 million a year.

I imagine Team Swans will also benefit from the complusory community donations clubs must make each year (in lieu of paying extra tax)

But if you look at the wording of the articles amendment "50% of the board members MUST be approved by the Swans" you will see that the Swans will effectively be running the joint.

P.S. Almost any name would be better than "Sydney Aussie Rules Social Club" or even "SARSC".

The pre-season match in Tassie might be a good test event for you all.

I'll make sure me Satchmo & Mrs Pebbles wave to you all from down at Aurora!

Floors 2 and 3 (ie the non-pokie floor) opened on Fri night.
                          Very nice - modern decor.
Good open-air outdoor area that faces the main street for the smokers (with a tv on the wall) from level 2.

Also a few more areas not opened.
Another larger outdoor area on level 3
And then the main function room which is apparently even bigger than the old one with a big bar and massive stage.

Club Bloods. I've never liked the 'bloods' culture but it's a great name for a social club especially in the Cross and will appeal to the native leagueist/rah rah boys. They could sell glasses of red and white at discount prices as incentive!

They could tie up with a church as well , with a lot of blood stained angels.
occassionally they could crucify a player or a coach or the media .
