Eade, how long will he last ?

Finally the penny is dropping down in Mexico....Eade, for all his so called tactical nous on game day, can't coach...
I can see a career at AFL house looming. Or maybe, like other failed coaches before him......umpires coach...Perhaps with his favourite pet, Peter 'squirell' Fillandia as his sidekick

I like Eade. If you think he cant coach then maybe you weren't around in 96. It's a shame he can't keep his temper under a bit more control on match day. I hope he get's a job on TV when he finishes coaching as I think he has a good footy brain and speaks well on TV.

He was handed an excellent list, with plenty of disipline, thanks to Barassi.
By the time he left they were a rabble.
There are plenty of ordinary coaches who have had one year of finals success, Gary 'Aires' springs to mind.
Eade was again given an excellent list at the Doggies, and so far he has taken them backwards. A good footy brain does not necessarily equal a good coach.

Don't rewrite history please, 2002 was a @@@@@@ year plain and simple, a lot of things had gone wrong including the Lockett fiasco.

Eade is a good coach, Roos was nearly headed for retirement after an average 1995 under Barrassi but flourished under Eade, a lot of players played well under Eade and his tactics basically took us to the 1996 GF and probably nearly won us 1998 (which we should have won IMO).

Eade took them to the next level and basically kept them there until the last few years when it all fell apart.

Our worst seasons under Eade are comparable to our worst seasons under Roos. Obviously our better years under Roos are what all fans are going to remember but don't hang Eade out to dry just because we didn't get the ultimate under him. His years were a hell of a lot more enjoyable than the early part of the 90's.

I don't think that is true, simply because they can't afford to pay him out.

They paid out Rhodes a few years ago and they can't afford to do it again.

They will just have to hope last year becomes a distant memory for them.

Worst public speaker I have ever heard. Quite Simply I was amazed that he was able to coach. Had to sit and listen to him recount the most boring stories with "um's" and "are's" and a complete lack of life in his voice. He may be a tactical genius but how the hell he ever managed to inspire you boys is beyond me.

And you say I'm rewriting history. I hope you were good at maths and science...because history obviously isn't your strong point.

                      1) Eade is not a good coach.
                      2) Roos was not heading for retirement. Barrassi signed him up the year before.
3)Our worst seasons under Eade (1999 onwards) were plentiful, comparable only to one year, this year, under Roos.
4)I can think of many more players who have thrived under Roos having struggled under Eade...Goodes and Kirk for starters.

                      It's a D- in history for Damien

                        1. Wrong.

                        2. Barrassi told Roos he was going to spend time in the reserves if had coached 1996. Barrassi has spoken of this many times since he left.

                        3. 2004 and 2007 didn't set the world alight by any stretch of the imagination and was comparable to anything dished up previously.

                        4. Goodes sights Eade as a massive (positive) influence on his career. Kirk was an obvious error but every coach has made those I am sure.

Huh? don't change what I said to suit yourself, I quoted two years that were comparable thank you very much. Not at one stage did I use 2005/2006 to compare the Eade/Roos years.
