if he wasn't from sydney we would never have drafted him, just have a look at some of the players drafted after him.
suming up he is a no talented gutless dud and it is a disgrace that he is wearing the great gerard healys no.

    minus 2 out of 10
Could not have said it any better myself!
I usually have complete faith in Roos' and his decisions - except when it comes to this hack and the chances he is getting to show us something.
Times up, get rid of him.

good scoring system but we played 23 games. so 3/23 = 1.3 points
      that sounds about right..
Andrew mackie was pick 7 that year, which would have been our pick if not for the cheating swine of princes park. I blame them.

One of the underperformers that I have stood up for in the past, and probably will do so again, simply because there is something about him I like and because he has so few apologists. Realistically though, seeing as he has never really performed at any spectecular level I would rate him at 5/10 by his own standards, but have him as low as 1.5/10 at an AFL standard. Played 23 games at Sydney (or thereabouts), would struggle to be in the best 22 in all but 3 or 4 other clubs. Needs to have a big 2008.

            2/10.

Had a couple of good performances but they were few and far between, should've been dropped to let younger players try their luck in the big league but never happened. Don't expect improvements anytime soon.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

              2.5/10

Had a very poor year after showing some upside in 2006.

Given his poor form early season and very inaccurate goal kicking should have been dropped by round 8 or so. Only named in 'Sydneys best' three times - against poor opposition in Melbourne, Richmond & St. Kilda.

I don't believe he has shown much ability to be a run-with tagger as tried repeatedly by Roos. Does not tackle well, gives his opponent to much space at stoppages or gave away cheap holding freekicks.

On the plus side to give some hope, he often found space in the forward 50 but did not convert often enough. Has some good evasive skills, especially tight on the boundery with the ball on the ground.

If McVeigh is to prosper he needs to be allowed to run free with a focus of crumbing off the pack in the forward line.

Must do better in 2008 or will be lucky to be still on the list in 2009.

              Cheers

Some people don't like Bevan...I don't like McVeigh.

Shows a distinctive lack of courage.

Undoubtedly one of a group that has photos of Roos in an compromising position.

I won't give him a number out of 10 as that will put him in with a group of players he doesn't belong ...the Sydney Swans.

That said his main problem is a lack of courage. If he visits the Great and Mighty Oz in the off season and is able to acquire some, great. As others have said has the ability, but I rate Bevan higher. (not it the last line though!)

                    Ditto.

As for comparing him with Dale Lewis, too many drinks have killed too many brain/memory cells.

Nothing like Dale Lewis, absolutely nothing.

Lewis was the 90's Nick Davis, capable of winning a game off his own boot but often appeared to not give a toss.

I voiced my opinion of Mcveigh a couple of times during the season and had many responses saying that he was a potential star. I think the nickname i used for him was Mccrap.

I rated his season as a 3 - there did not appear to be any improvement from the previous year- but in saying this i do question the role he was asked to play at times. IMHO He played his best games when given the oppourtunity up forward and did show some signs of flair and creativity. Maybe he could be given a last chance as our small forward rotating through the midfield occasionally - but not as a defensive mid or tagger.

This will be a defining season and could depend on the role he is asked to play.

                      Cheers

Didn't light world on fire and all that talking about his potential was just a fizzer. Very overrated.
                          3/10 for me.

I would give him 3 out of 10.

Better then LRT and Bevan but.

I would also give an arm and a leg for his brother Mark McVeigh.
