They would be so stupid to reject that offer.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Let them rot in Melbourne and they'll soon roll over. I'm sick of seeing North Melbourne people say that the Fitzroy and South Melbourne heritage is dead in Brisbane and Sydney respectively, like they know everything about our clubs, and we know @@@@ all about there's.

To hell with the Kangaroos, I'm not going to buy a membership for them so they can stay in Melbourne. I bet you a lot of their older ones, didn't by a Swans membership so we can stay in Melbourne. If it's ok for the AFL to shift South Melbourne and Fitzroy to Sydney and Brisbane respectively, then it's ok for the AFL to send the Kangaroos to the Gold Coast.

The Fitzroy and South Melbourne spirit is NOT dead and will live on forever.

Maybe not now,but when South moved to Sydney they did every thing in their power to distance them selves from "South Melbourne" the team IMO.

I think the Roos will blow their chance at survival if they dont go,but you never know a miracle might happen.I for one will not buy a Roo's membership to help them stay,i say @@@@ em your on your own.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Yeah I know, they tried to distant themselves sadly from South Melbourne when they first moved, but Paul Roos has brought the bloods spirit back which I'm proud of them for doing it, and I'm proud of Brett Kirk for keeping it alive. But I guess it's also the dedicated South Melbourne fans that keep the spirit alive even if the club tried to distance themselves.

At least they have a choice, stay or move to the Gold Coast, we didn't have a choice. But that fact, seems lost to North Melbourne supporters who support the stay in Melbourne.

... almost everything in their power. Kenny still moved with them.

Fitzroy's is up for debate. I don't like it when Fitzroy and South are compared during this argument. The Brisbane Lions, are Fitzroy and Brisbane merged.

The Sydney Swans are South Melbourne.

South Melbourne morphed into Sydney. Relocation offers much more hope of maintaining spirit and culture.

Merger is a more difficult situation.

The way those North Melbourne idiots on bigfooty are carrying on though, you would think that the North Melbourne name, would die if they relocate. I have said all along, that South Melbourne hasnt died, and neither would North Melbourne if they relocate, unlike if they merged with another Melbourne club.

This was how South Melbourne "idiots" were acting in 1981, just without the use of the internet, so lets not jump down their necks for trying to keep their club in its city of birth.

We did it and failed because our board of the time agreed to the move for a season before news broke and once the Keep South at South group got control, the VFL held them to the old board's comittments. North haven't comitted to anything and therefore are able to do and say what they like to the AFL in this regard if they DON'T want to go.

We didn't want to go, the KSAS got control of the club and because of a comittment made without knowledge of the fanbase the VFL held a gun to our head. Many thought it was the wrong move at the time, but it has turned out for the best because yes we would of gone bust in Melbourne if we stayed.

I have said all along, that South Melbourne hasnt died, and neither would North Melbourne if they relocate, unlike if they merged with another Melbourne club.
Try telling that to someone faced with having their club moved interstate. In these matters reason doesn't apply and the heart takes over. Last thing Swans fans should be doing is saying to North fans "it will all be OK", it took 3 years before the club was sold off and 10 years before the AFL was meeting to discuss booting us out of the competition.

Moving interstate DOESN'T solve everything and Swans fans of all people should know that and Swans fans of all people should know that promises and relocation packages made by the VFL/AFL are either dodgy or not delivered upon....
                        Once was, now elsewhere

I'm still not going to support North Melbourne and buy a membership no matter what you say.

I just wish we had a choice like North did!

No one brought Swans membership when we were fighting to stay in Melbourne! And I'll call anybody an idiot that thinks that South Melbourne is dead.

North and the Swans are different apples. Swans were forced for a number of reasons, but one of which was the start of the National Competition. And even the Keep South at South members who took control of the swans board at the time, realised they were fighting a lost cause. That was 25 years ago, corporate $$ didn't play as big a part as they do today.

But why are you calling South Melbourne supporters idiots for?
Because they were only thinking of themselves. If they stopped to look at the bigger picture, that would have realised the club was doomed, if they stayed in Melbourne. Supporters are all heart, but not necessarily objective.
Oh wait, you're probably from Sydney are you? roll
                            You might be surprised there.

No, no one brought memberships, they struggled to attract a crowd of more than a few thousand to most games. Clubs can't survive without members and big corporate sponsors, now is the similarity with North.
And I'll call anybody an idiot that thinks that South Melbourne is dead.
OK, call me one. SM folded and was wound up by the courts in 82/83. Shot Dead. The memories still live on. (should that last sentence be to music?)

If you haven't already, buy yourself a copy of Shake down the Thunder. Describes in pretty clear terms what happened, and probably what is going on at North, ATM.

I know what happened to the Swans mate, I came from South Melbourne right in the middle of the heartland, so please don't lecture me on what happened ok mate, I was bloody there. And I'm sorry mate, I'll call you an idiot if you believe that South Melbourne is dead. It is the same bloody club, we did not merge or killed off.

Apparently, there was only 700 according to the bigfooty people, at their meeting today, so yeah they sure do have the numbers to survive in Melbourne, which in reality is already an over crowded market place
