thats the best atmosphere ive been in at aurora, the swans fans were way louder then the hawks.

Sometimes harder to follow at the ground, seemed they left the young guys to win the last 5 minutes which was good. Some pathetic ball movement out of defence in that last quarter.

    Barlow was too handball happy.

Bird has to play round 1, if paul bevan plays and bird doesnt there is something wrong, bevan is pathetic. Mattner was excellent and will have to stand up without malceski. Nick Davis didnt get good delivery but looked fitter than ever.

Jude look motivated and a bit slicker than this year.

Our disposal was pathetic, but so many young guys have done a lot to increase their reputations.

Apart from Eskys bad news which will haunt us & him the positive was our kids got to play against better opposition which they have not done in the past.
Jesse White : Looked OK , moved well. Suprise packet for me.
Craig Bird : No wonder he got 14 !! Surely will pressure (McVeigh,Matthews)
Matt ODwyer : Great game today, though was delisted at the end of last year & still a rookie.
Jarred Moore : Jurys out for me still.
Daniel OKeefe : Dont Know, didnt impress me at all
Keiran Jack : Great game , but disposal is very ordinary though.
      Ryan Brabazon : Did OK
Heath Grundy : Tried all day, did OK though Buddy could of kicked 5
Cheese : Had a shocker today.
Pete Faulks : Thought he went alright
Marty Monster : Will be a great pick up for us.
Thought Monty went well. Bolts was ordinary, Rhino Ok, Davo not much
McVeigh : Spasmodic Overall though we were OK with what we had.
At years end though the only thing we will get from this is Eskys injury
      Heart breaking news for us.

LOL. My comment was intended as tongue in cheek. I am aware that it was predominantly Buddy who kept Buddy goalless.

That said, I don't think Grundy did that bad a job on him. Franklin is a match-up from hell given his size and height. He's certainly not an ideal match-up for Reg but Grundy at least managed to force him wide most of the time.

I don't think we can say anything - positive or negative- about Grundy's prospects based on that unlikely match-up, except that (as someone else pointed out) he does seem to have improved his speed a bit.

bird can find the footy, but he kicked into the man on the mark a few times.

Played a better game than some i expected should outshine him like daniel okeefe and ed barlow he was better than them.

Seemed to have a lot of courage.

White - only apparent in spurts but showed good agility for such a big guy. Took a couple of very strong marks. Sadly they weren't in front of goal. Looks like he might be ready to step in this season and play a few senior games.

Bird - not over-awed at all. Played on Mitchell for most of the game, and he only really exerted his influence in the final quarter. Effected few good clearances, tackled ferociously, and roved / snapped a good goal from a fair distance out. His second efforts were also good - when he made mistakes he recovered immediately and went back in to try and make good.

Question mark over him was to what extent he's been a man playing against boys in the sense that he's a big solid unit. Today suggested that he won't have any trouble translating his style to playing against men.

Moore and Schmidt have plenty to be worried about - though Moore had a pretty decent game today too.

and youd think the swans could protect a youngster like bird a fair bit, would you place him ahead of jack in terms of making the senior side? i would, though i thought jack was pretty good today

                  wtf???

Considering the players out, we played awesome today, I must have been watching a different game.

In the short term they might compete against each other for one of the last couple of spots in the team but I don't think they're the same kind of player. Jack brings genuine leg speed and line breaking ability to the team, while Bird is going to do his best work in the packs.

Paul Roos looked like he was missing his snakes down on the sidelines.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I thought White was very good in the contests that he got to, I don't think he was beaten all day? I have no idea how many minutes he played or where he was generally playing- maybe a bit up forward or a bit in the ruck? Either way I was really happy with how he went when he was about the ball.
