I agree re. McVeigh. Bird and Jack loom as replacements. Personally I favour the wharehousing of McVeigh for three seasons in some suitable position as the captain of the two's so that he can be generously placed on the draft list for the Western Sydney Whatevers. He and his useless brother would make up the full local Sydney contingent of the latest AFL brilliant brainwave.

I reckon the solution to the McVeigh problem is stick him in the forward pocket or across half forward. Disposal won't be such a problem there, and he has shown in the past that he's capable of finding the ball inside 50. Honestly, I reckon that's the way to go. He's too good a player in other departments (other than disposal) to be simply shoved into the seconds.

Interestingly Big Al played for South Melbourne in District Cricket. Could Connolly be one and the same person?

And could "Bedford" be the real Peter Bedford? He makes some very astute statements.

Struth fair go Nico big Al bowled against the Nawab of Pataudi. Not quite that old. Do remember though when Dad took me (as a kid) to the Albert Park oval and saw him bowl swinging boomers for South in what was maybe a District cricket final. Great bowler.
