    sydneyswans.com.au updated

The Swans official website has been updated to a shiney new version.
.... Sadly, bigpond have made it slower than Benny Matthews.
    Ed Considine's day out - Round 3, 16th April 1995.
11 Kicks, 13 Handballs, 8 Marks, 1 Goal, 1 Behind, 1 Tackle, 1 Hitout, 3 Brownlow votes (his only votes)

It doesn't appear any slower than the old page.

Very funny that they have a shot of Roos with his arm around Schneider for an article on "Harbouring Ambition". Like move to the Saints?

The site is an abomination. What is the obsession with Flash?

30 minutes and it still hasn't finished loading in Safari.

Flash is for web designers who wish to overcharge on contracts for companies that have no idea how the web works. Does Telstra fit that profile?

LOL , if you can be bothered waiting for the site upload, go to the player profile for Heath Grundy and in the slide show, randomly, inexplicably, there is a picture of Ben Fixter included.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Like you didn't know it was going to be the same based on afl.com.au and the changes made to it? The club itself probably had very little say in the actual redesign as its part of the AFL/Bigpond network.

I don't get the AFL's obsession with changing their site EVERY season. You just get to know where to find things and they change it.

And as bad as last year's version was, this year's is even worse on the eye. And agree about adding all these "fancy" features - keep it simple...the easier and faster it is to load/find things, the more time people will spend on your site.

                I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Wow, it IS terribly slow in Safari. It's much faster in Firefox.

Edit: I don't think it's ever going to finish loading. Looks like it just loads one of the Flash applets and doesn't load the rest of them. So Safari users can't see the site at all! Brilliant.

Not blaming the club(s), they probably have no say at all in the design, just the content.

I think Telstra must get some sort of maintenance fee to continually update the sites every year.

After 10 minutes all I see is a page full of green circles spinning around.

                      What an embarassment.

actually, come to think of it.... it's slower than Ben Matthews and Jude Bolton tied together.

No new player photos, except for draftees.

They've stuck with the dodgy photoshops of Playfair and Mattner.

I don't understand why, when a business (be it the AFL or Telstra) has available to is so much free market research about its site at the tip of its finger tips, it continuously chooses not to taken a blind smidgeon of notice.

                            Visually crowded.
                            Hard to navigate.
Amateurish content (eg Leg's example of the photos - there are more of the same)

                            and, most of all,

so so so slow to load.

These have been complaints of almost everyone I've read express an opinion in the last 4 or so years. And yet it gets worse and worse each time they "relaunch it".

Are they that stupid? That arrogant? That lazy?

The banner across the top of the page is embarassingly amateurish.
