No new player photos, except for draftees.

They've stuck with the dodgy photoshops of Playfair and Mattner.

I think most of the photos are new this year but they seem to have left the old photos on the main player page. If you click through to a profile (first you have to work out how to do it so that you don't get Nick Smith regardless of who you click on ) you will see subtley different photos. They seem to have new guernseys this year with almost no V-neck to them. It's the easiest way to spot the difference. Otherwise, there are some very very subtle changes in hairstyle or facial expression that give it away.

These have been complaints of almost everyone I've read express an opinion in the last 4 or so years. And yet it gets worse and worse each time they "relaunch it".

I wonder if it is the AFL or Telstra that is responsible for doing usability testing? Maybe it falls between the cracks. Some time ago, a Telstra employee posted a thread on Bigfooty looking for feedback on last year's site (I guess that is their substitute for content testing and usability research). Not surprisingly,the negative comments, invective and criticism is still streaming in a year after the initiator stopped posting (see below)

New AFL site (suggestions, complaints and compliments) - BigFooty

I ran into a guy locally about 3 weeks ago who works as a consulting project manager for a BigPond (his company did the upgrade). His comments were along the lines that the underlying structure of the site is rooted, a nightmare. He was a very stressed guy.

When I mentioned the Bigfooty AFL thread to him, he said the person who submitted the post (Sandy) is no longer with Telstra.

More conspiracy theories. I changed from Optus to Telstra as y ISP last week and went to the streaming video site. Strangely, the streaming is now working perfectly well, on the same internet speed, whereas before it just refused to work at all. I wonder if Telstra is deliberately hobbling content on its BigPond site if you are not a BigPond customer. Would they also do that to the AFL site? Surely they wouldn't would they?

I am about to change my ISP too...currently with iPrimus. I am considering Telstra but I am torn because I want to be able to access AFL content better, but I am very suspicious that Telstra do hobble non-Telstra users...and dont want them to get away with it

It is the AFL's product that is being promoted. Even if contractually Telstra is meant to do usability testing, surely the AFL is capable of standing up and telling Telstra that their audience thinks it is crap?

Or are those at AFL House also too arrogant to listen to the customers. In fact, that's probably the case since there is very little about how they are managing OUR game at the moment to suggest they really care a toss about the true owners of the game, the supporting public.

I emailed Swans Membership today to complain - I asked if it was part of the conspiracy or just Telstra being crap?

Right now, I'd guess it's unlikely that they will forward it to the AFL.

Ugly ugly ugly! And going through the player profiles, they can't even get things like player birthdates etc correct - several players have had the day and month mixed up! Surely that's a BASIC thing to be getting right?
