Did you miss the finals in 2005?

Didn't see the whole game, but I thought some of his disposals by foot were atrocious last night.

Yep, but... they were exciting... he had an awful kick to Milne that was just to be attacking, his kick was ugly but it still bounced to Milne and Milne was good enough to gather and goal. Schneider takes the attacking option almost every time, and that was in display last night. Exciting football... unfortunately attacking football to the Sydney coaching staff is like sex to the British; abhorant!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Schneider needs to satisfy two counts to convince me he was worth keeping.
          1. He needs to prove he has the fitness to play midfield where he would be of good value. His disposal from there would be a terrific asset to whatever team he is with. But at Sydney he gave no indication of any interest in improving his fitness level, and therefore was no more than a spasmodically handy small forward.
          2. He needs to put consistent games together. It's no use to kick 3 this week , and go missing for the next three! Ross Lyons will be aware of this..good luck to him!

RWO (and Paul Roos for that matter) would do well to understand that there is more to life - and football - than rotating through the midfield. Just as people have different skill levels, people have different fitness levels. Schneider's best season was his first, where he played as a small forward. Why try and make him into a midfielder and then bag him for not being something he never was? I hope he embarasses us Rd 1 (that we win, but Schneider picks up 3 brownlow points as the stand out player in a team that was otherwise spanked).

Yes scheinder is a good player, but by all reports Moore's pre season form has been good as a crumbing small forward.

We all called for an injection of youth into the team and unfortunately that means that certain players needed to be traded. Scheinder wasn't flexible enough to play as an attacking half back nor was he fit enough to play in the midfield so he went to give the likes of Moore, Jack, Schmidt, Barlow, Thornton, Laidlaw and Bird a run this year.

If the form of the others continue you are likely to see Jack choosen over Bevan, Schmidt over Matthews etc as well.

Problem is, where do you stick the likes of Moore, Schmidt and Bird when you want to place them into the side? There are only a couple of spots in a side where you can introduce a youngster into the side while maintaing a winning team and Scheinder was taking one of those spots up.

Scheinder needed to go up a level and move consistently move into the midfield or play a role as an attacking half back flanker. He did neither and it was time to go to give some of these youngsters we have a go at senior level over an extended period to see if they can make it.

I thought Schneider played some of his best footy as an attacking half-back flanker and can't understand why he wasn't used that way more often. He showed more than adequate small defender qualities on players like Milne, and being played their seemed to encourage his defensive work ethic which sometimes went missing when played on a HFF.

I guess we're repaying St. Kilda for giving us players such as Hall and Plugger.

                      We shall miss the SchneiderMan!

PS I hope we still do make him feel welcome at our next home game.
I don't at all. Seriously, watch a replay of the last round match against Hawthorn. He seriously could not kick more than 20-30 metres. His confidence was shot.

Adam Schneider has been resting on the laurels of 2003 for way too long. A new change of scenery make kick start his career. But I wouldn't be surprised it his career petered off into nothing. One good season is not enough at AFL level.

PS:- The one I feel hard-done by was Dempster. We could have used him running out of defence, especially given Eski will be out most of the year.

Schneider has been labelled as unfit: my take is he was soft in 2007 and did not take the hard options, however his skills are way above those of one J Bolton and I agree Schneider is a HFF.

Contrast Bolton who openly admitted to all and sundry that he was unfit last year and didn't work hard enough at his fitness. The consequence was he was played as a HFF and forward pocket at which he is utterly useless, and his spot in the side was never in threat. His reward was a slap on the wrist with a wet tram ticket by way of a fake and telegraphed draft threat floated by the club and there were no takers, surprise, surprise, then a resultant PAY RISE.

There is no question that Schneider is a miles better footballer but I suspect he was not one of the BOYS, so when a decision had to be made for salary cap purposes Schneider got the chop. The thing that staggers me is that some of the money saved by trading Schneider was paid back to an unfit hack who genuinely cheated on his team mates and supporters.

He played well against StKilda kicking three gaols but it was Buchanon who starred in the 2005 GF and kicked the vital goal. His performances in the 2006 and 2007 finals campaigns were mediocre at best.

He was pretty good against the Crows.

IMO when a player gets traded he shouldnt be allowed to play against his old club in the first game they meet.
