    Jack,Moore, Bird, Grundy

Was wrapped with the efforts by Jack and Moorey last night.Jack, strong and fast.I never doubted Moore's ability and was glad he got a decent run to show it.(he did make a couple of clangers early, nerves probably).
Looking forward to Vesperini joining in the midfield. This kid can seriously play.
Bird was caught by the pace tonight.I think he found out that the real thing is more physical than the pre season.Jury is out on him...maybe all the hype pre selection and onwards didn't help the kid.

Young Geary looks a ready made player for St Kilda.Good on him.

Come on you cant doubt Birdy yet he's played 1 senior game! Of course the occasion got to him and the speed of the ame, but to say the jury is out on him- give him a month before even trying to judge where he is at at all!

Agree with Jack and Moore, I was really pleased with their efforts tonight. Give Bird some time, 18 years old in game one, he needs time to adjust. I really hope that he gets a few games in a row so he can adjust and show his telent.

I would suggest a season for Bird to get accostomed to the big time. I have no doubt he will be a top player for us. He moves well, has good acceleration and kicks well. Experience and game time is what he needs.

If Vesperini is as good as touted he rounds off the future midfield.

          Pretty much right Nico.
He did a lot of running around to make position, but was ignored.

Can't criticise his first game too much, though. Very few players make an impact in Game 1.

And even though Moore didn't do a lot, he looked good when he had the ball. Very confident. A couple of moore games and we'll be singing his praises.

Getting caught on a baulk shattered his confidence then copped a heavy knock later. Will be better for it. This is the first time I have seen him play, but he did a couple of things that makes me certain he is going to be a 200 + player for us. veyr good in traffic.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Interesting that he was ignored. Yep Leo was looking for his mate Benny to dish off a backward hand pass to all night but alas he was nowhere to be found. Who was the player on the wing Leo ignored for "5 minutes" while he pranced around the midfield playing to the crowd. Look at Moi, look at moi.

Yes, he Jack and Moore just have to be played. They give run and hardness. He has the style and skill and run to make it big time.

Yep, the team looked much better without Mathews on the ground.

Make him captain of the seconds.

                        Debutants

I would be interested to hear any views on the performance of Bird, Jack, Moore and co, particularly with all of the hype surrounding the re-emergance of the No. 14. Did he do it justice, if not can he?

Personally I was more excited about Jack's performance that Birds, and a pity Moore couldn't slot that goal to win it for us.

Jack & Moore played very well Bird had the flutters early.
I would probably keep all three for next week.
Jack & Moore looked like a very good attacking midfielders they seemed to inject pace into the midfield.
I definately wouldn't drop Jack & Moore for next week

This is the first thread I've opened since getting home after wasting $700 on a trip to watch that rubbish live so maybe comments have been made elsewhere.

Moore may not have gotten a huge amount of ball but I can recall 4 quite exquisite kicks into our forward line all night - and 3 of them came off Moore's boot. And he wasn't far off pinching an undeserved victory for the team when he was one of the few showing some intensity in the final minutes.

You on the Jackwagon now Nico?

Not a super game from Jack - he has more tricks than he showed last night - but he was certainly far from the worst. And the fourth of those kicks referred to above came off his boot.

As for Bird, it wasn't a great debut but he showed enough to indicate he has to be persisted with. I think he'll pick up the pace quite quickly and show his quality sooner rather than later.
