On SEN, KB just led off with 'StKilda have gone for the overkill' and Riewoldt was his own victim by jumping early.

He said that StKilda are putting pressure on the umpires to look after Nick.

It looks to me like Reiwoldt just jumped too early and totally misjudged the flight of the ball. Why should that be rewarded with a free kick?

Because he is the god Sir Nick Reiwoldt that is why! Hasnt anyone bothered to alert you to the fact!
I'm suprised as earlier mentioned in this thread or another that he doesn't yet have his own rule to enforce an exclusion zone around him so he can do what he wants when he wants.

I don't think we should bother having defenders, there's no point.

Thing is it's been in Bolton's repertoire for quite a while. When he's undersized against opposition it's been his tactic to outbody the forward. He usually does it in the air, i.e leaps with the forward putting slight body on body contact to unbalance the forward and remove his chance of getting good hands on the ball to take the mark. Watch any of our games against Richmond in recent years and you'll see him doing to Richo time and time again.

Difference with Riewoldt is that not only is he outsized but Riewoldt can outleap him as well. Doesn't leave him with a lot of options given the arm chop is now out of the question. His defence will be is that he is just marking his man and if his man makes a suddent adjustment to his attack on the footy (i.e. try to slow and leap to mark a footy that's heading over his head while on the forward lead), he won't be able to react quickly enough to avoid impact with the leaping forward. In both cases Bolton has his eyes on the ball he just does not slow fast enough to avoid contact. On purpose or incidental, it's a tough call, though in the first case Riewoldt probably would have marked the ball without Bolton's contact, probably worth a free, given Bolton had no realistic chance to lay a hand on the footy. The second case Riewoldt had no chance, play on.

Regardless of whether you think Bolton's intent is there or not if I was a Saints fan I'd be pretty livid with those examples as well.

St kilda are a bunch of baby's they robbed us of the game what else do they want and as if B2 would go out of his way to tunnel and injure another player maybe if revolt didn't jump so high n stuff and B2 ain't the biggest guy and you can clearly see his looking at the ball not at trying to TUNNEL revolt revolt basically could jump over B2

Riewoldt is a sooky sooky la la after accusing of Craig Bolton of cheating and using dirty tactics?

I find Riewoldt a bloody whinger and cry baby. I hate the St.Kilda Football Club. :@

Harden the @@@@ up Riewoldt. Maybe we can get Chris Scott or Mal Michael to come and give ya a good hip and shoulder, then you'll have something to cry about.

Riewoldt is the new Matthew Lloyd. You can't touch the bloke before the Dumps give him a free kick.

@@@@ you Ross Lyon, he knows that B2 isnt a dirty player and he could have stopped this if he wanted too.

I bet you wont be on Roosy's christmas card list.

This has got to be the biggest non-issue in footy at the moment! Certainly, "tunnelling" as it's been described is dangerous, but the available evidence just doesn't justify sullying the name of one of the fairest defenders around, and yes I am bloody disappointed that one of B2's former coaches has allowed his name to be dragged through the mud. To suggest that C Bolton is a dirty player would be insulting if it weren't so ridiculous.

That said, of course defenders should try to avoid interfering with the player in the air where possible, to reduce the risk of injury from an awkward landing, and B2 will probably have to adjust his tactics slightly. But really, while the first youtube incident was at worst a free kick, Riewoldt needs to show a little more regard for his body when leaping for marks like that. And better delivery from his midfield wouldn't hurt, either

I'm glad that most on RWO have seen the incident for what it was, unlike the crap that's been posted on bigfooty about it

You mean Big Footy isn't the place for a reasonable, objective discussion?

LOL...I hadn't visited the main board for a while so had forgotten what it was like! Some of the non-footy boards are OK though.
