Accessing the Grounds

I actually live only 10 min walk from a train station!! And used to take public transport to games all the time... however once I had to drive because I needed to get someplace else quickly after the game... and I don't think I've taken public transport since.
The less times I have to take a train back to blacktown of a late saturday night, the better.....
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

If you park after 6pm at Fox Studios it isn't too bad from memory. You are under cover & are pretty safe & can get out heaps more easily than parking on the SCG Trust gravel & slush across the road.
Parking at the MCG is awesome. $6 & you just park under the trees somewhere. Just remember where you parked the car, as I have been with parties who after games cannot find them.

Myles, are you listening!!!!??? We need a helipad for JS to get back to Newport straight after the game! And don't forget the champers for the trip will you Geeves?
Actually, bugger the helipad!!! We need chauffeur driven limousines to Rose Bay then a seaplane service available for our more well-healed Northern Beaches Swans connoisseurs.

For those who do rely on Fox Studios for parking, be aware that they've recently introduced a new parking gouging policy (probably taking tips from the Macquarie-managed Sydney airport).
Any time there is any "event" on at one of the adjacent facilities, parking now costs a minimum of $20, up to $25, depending on how long you stay. That's regardless of whether you're attending the "event" or just popping in for an hour or so for a cup of coffee.
The only way around it is to get your ticket validated at one of the EQ outlets by spending at least $10 (a very expensive cup of coffee!!) If you have a few beers or buy some food there as a matter of course before or after the game I guess it's not an issue. But it does add an additional minimum $10 expenditure for those who don't already do so.
They are already advertising that Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week are all "special event" times - so it can't just be put down to larger crowds with the A-league finals or the international cricket.Comment

It's $8 this year.
And finding the car in the dark, even when the carpark is near empty, can be very difficult. I've lost mine many times.Comment

The problem with the MCG carpark is it can take up to an hour to get out afterwards. If you park after 6pm at Fox Studios it isn't too bad from memory. You are under cover & are pretty safe & can get out heaps more easily than parking on the SCG Trust gravel & slush across the road.

geez thats a bit steep eh? now thats a rip off. I imagine that the cost to park on the dust pile across the road this year will be $20 per car if there are more than 2 people and $22 if single, criminal really when you consider that your car is filthy upon leaving, there is only one exit and tempers do get a bit freyed - So again its the racecourse for me!I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Their website implies just a flat rate of $20 on event days, unless they have changed it...For those who do rely on Fox Studios for parking, be aware that they've recently introduced a new parking gouging policy (probably taking tips from the Macquarie-managed Sydney airport).

It's hard to complain about any parking prices if you park at the airport regularly. I dont know how they sleep at night. Thieves. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment
