Many people were bagging Davis, but when you looked at it, Davis was trying to cover LRT's man and his own).
As to your comparison, Davis did the right thing - he covered - McVeigh didn't. The focus of the game is the football, not your man. The first priority should always be the football. McVeigh should have gone to challenge DalSanto. If DalSanto handballs over the top then so be it. He may be lucky enough to force an error or at least slow down the play and perhaps another player can come in to cover his man. By doing nothing you give the opposition an easy possession.

YES, that's exactly what he should have done. A handpass to his man was not a given and McVeighs man may well have been covered by somebody else running in from the square.

Sure blokes who are out of form need to be looked at, though you must be able to replace them.

Before I start, let me say I didnt see last weeks game....but...

O'Loughlin would have to have one of the poorest goal returns for any FF in the comp over the last 12 months.

Surely with Hall, Okeefe, Davis, Grundy, etc, MOL is expendable if he's not producing ?

            Put J.White to FF ?

              Drop Bevan immediately...
Followed closely by Grundy and J Bolton
Replace with Barlow, White(or Everitt if fit) and Fosdike.
McVeigh has a stay of execution, due to him finally playing a reasonable game, but we need to see him string together a number of reasonable games....including better disposal, stronger attack on the ball....unlikely

This has to be MO'L's last season. His stats do not stack up.

IMO - Clear out your 50 metre arc and leave Barry Hall & O'Keefe in the fwd line. Two crumbers running into each contest. I reckon you would see a different Swans outfit as a result.

Drop Grundy before MOL. MOL is still playing better than him, since he does stuff around the ground as well. White would come in for Grundy in that scenario. However, White may not be ready for the big time yet. If he is, get him in! I reckon he will be Hall's replacement when Bazza retires, but if he's not quite ready, let him sit in the reserves a little longer. In any case, O'Loughlin is currently a better option than Grundy/White.

Grundy (limited oppurtunity probaby safe if Spida not available)
McVeigh (Can be relied on to not win the contested footy ... i know he got a lot of stats but if Fossie is ready to go see you later Jarryd)
Bevan (unsighted and i am still remebering that woeful game against Collingwood in the final last year ... just doesn't have the composure and the skill to make it)

                      By round three or four

Nick Davis (love Davo and great goal but just doesn't get enough of the footy ... no credits left from last year either)
Gee I would have thought the one they would have a look at is J Bolton, at the most critical moment in the last QTR with us streaming through the corridor he handballs directly to a StKilda player... not good enough for a "star" midfielder. Its bad enough to miss a target but to handball to a direct opponent in the corridor.... and the Swans gave this hack a pay raise....

$64000 question. How many crap games does Bevan have to play before losing his white haired boy status? Milne only kicked one, but could easily have got four. Meanwhile Bevan gets an outstanding 5 possessions and did not win a contested ball (Milne got 4).

Roos biggest mistake was playing a half fit and underdone Ablett instead of Barlow. Despite being in the best the last couple of pre season games, I reckon Cheese missed out because the coaching group perceived he has lagged a bit on the score of match fitness and committment. Given a rap on the knuckles and told to work harder. Cost 4 points too, can only hope the short term pain translates into long term gain when Cheese eventually gets back.

Memo Roos: just because a player is in the leadership group, do not believe him when he says he is fit to play - make him prove it!! Hall last year, now Ablett!!

                          No one, it's round 1.

But Bevan must be feeling anxious.

I have no idea what Grundy, Bevan and Moore were doing in that side.

I had to laugh at the suggestion Davis would be in trouble, though. He is one of the very few players in the side to show any flair or spark.
If you think Goswannies14 is off with fairies then hevens knows what you were on if you reckon Moore shouldn't have been in the side. His delivery was superb, yes he made a couple of obvious blunders, but strewth his last Q was that of a very good player and was everywhere.

Also agree that it was very smart play by Kennelly. He was one of only a handful throughout the whole night who suggested he was thinking about what was going on around him and what he was doing.
Leo is dumb footballer, full stop. He occasionally gets away with the ridiculous and he is suddenly seen as "giving us run". If he only played to his first option, which he never does, he would be a so much better footballer.

I wonder sometimes if some people watch a team with any intelligent observation.

MOL has always been a slow starter to a season, certainly for at least the past 5 years. Since he has bone on bone in both knees he doesn't train the same as the rest of the team and takes a few matches to gain his fitness. I thought he did a lot more running last week than normal and appears fitter this year at Round 1. Patience people even if it is his last year.
