Well, you can't really find anything to complain about with that performance. Brilliant all round by the looks of things, hoping to watch it later if someone can help me with that.

If there was a ban on cliches, Leo Barry would be silent!

Particularly good to win with Kennelly being kept quiet by K Cornes.

            Sydney 22.14 146
            Port Adelaide 11.12 78

An absolute flogging by the Swans against Port who must still have nightmares over their Grand Final loss last year. Hall and O'Loughlin back to their damaging best kicking 5 and 4 goals respectively, the midfield finally delivering the ball to the forward line and great defense to keep the Power to only 6 goal kickers.

It must be an embarrassment for Port to have McVeigh and Bevan kick 2 goals and LRT, Leo and Jude Bolton kicking a goal each against them in what was a woeful performance from the runners-up. The only weakness was the ruck division (26 hitouts vs. 49) but it's the clearances that count and the Swans completely dominated in possession and brought the ball to the forward line quickly.

Next week will be very interesting against the Lions who have Bradshaw back but our backline should be strong enough to take on him and Brown and hopefully it'll be a great win next week.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Who was that team, and what have they done with the Sydney Swans. Most I have enjoyed watching the Swans for 2 years. Bring on 2008, next week's game could be a cracker!

We should be about fifth on the ladder at the end of the round, with the best percentage of those teams on one win. (152.34).

that has to be the standard. I know we cant win by over 50 every week, but we can play that attacking style, they do hold it up and are happy to work it around, but they always looked to attacked and played good committed footy.

Best part of the game Barry Hall.

They were bloody good today !!
Gee we were hard at the ball all day.
All the Bazza critics will be quiet for a week along with the McVeigh haters,Jude and Bevo bashers !!

Jack was tough and Marty Mattner was solid as well.
Gee we missed LRT last year, was a real good performance against a quality full strength Port Adelaide today.
Just wish we would move it like we did today all the time as we are as good as anyone when we play like that.
Jack, Moore,Cheese and Bird were all good , thought Cheese was impressive and Bird will get better as he get more games into him.
                    Great win boys !!

no one to bash this week , mcveigh starting to play like his brother and looking like a no3 draft pick , goal on the run to b1 and a good game and bevan 2 goals and a great mark as well as some useful other things. i ll eat my humble balfours pie this week, where the vilis.
great to see baz get 5 and good game by b2 and lrt.
and jack going to be a gun player.
good to see cheese get a go and do well.
congrats to ablett and mattner on the 100 games milestone

Just got back from the Riser and the crowd was very good, the joint was packed.

IMHO Cheese was better value today than Davo would have been.

Jack was outstanding as was Bazza.

We're right on track. The Swans have played just one weak quarter football out of eight. Last week we kept St Kilda - supposedly one of the form sides - to two goals in three quarters.

                          After first two games:
Blooded new players and turned over some under-performers - check
Mattner giving drive out of backline - check
Barry Hall running into form - check
Scoring goals without Bazza - check

I thought Roos was joking when he said the Swannies'd be on the attack this year.

It's all good. Next week'll be a beauty against Brisbane.

                              1. Wish we could play all our home games on sunny days at the SCG! Love to see a stat.

                              2. Forward pressure wins games and we had it in spades. Hats off to Roos' tactics today, having bevan, moore and jack in the forward line at times meant with Mickey O's and Hall's efforts that Port had a tough time getting it out. No resting ruckman or any weak point in the forward line meant few easy takeaways for Port.

                              3. Great even performance. Cheese was great to see, got plenty of it as did Moore.

                              4. So many great goals! Keiran Jack scoring the first one, Leo's goal, Hall and Mick firing. Kirk's wobbly 2nd goal that nobody in the O'Reilly stand thought was going to make it.

                              5. Were we that good or were Port just terrible? I hope to see a replay on tv to find out.

that looked like it would of been a great day out at the footy. I thought about going too, but didnt!
Port were terrible SCGonasunnyday but we were pretty good. Still some rough disposals but we run very hard all day I thought, tackled tough and took some really good chances that arose. Overall I was very happy with what happened today. Jolly and LRT struggled in the ruck but we smashed them in the clearances all day which made it very hard for them.

I like what I saw today- we did play a team far from their best but we had plenty of promising signs. Now we have to back it up with a good performance in Brisbane next week and get another victory to kick start our season properly.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."
