It's funny how a few weeks ago, a rugby league player delivers about 4 full force punches to his opponents head and you hear zilch.

A conspiracy rumour theory, it coincides with last weeks news about the AFL accelerating 2nd Sydney team.

As the Bhagwan Shree Rashneesh (orange people fame) said, any publ;icity whether god or bad is good publicity because it has people talking about you.

First sentence Barry bashing Mother Theresa, second sentence.... hey what about a 2nd AFL team in Sydney...

    Just wondering.

Anna Coren from Ch 7, I reckon David Hicks would read her like a book!
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

      !
      What game was that in?

There have been 2 highly publicized punching cases in League this year which have resulted in lengthy suspensions. (One was a Storm Player and the other a Canberra player with suspensions totaling 13 weeks).
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

that Canberra hit in the NRL was worse I reckon- little if anything to provoke him he hit him front on and square into the face. That was a shocking incident and he should of got 12 weeks for it I reckon. just like Barry will get 10-12 weeks I reckon for a hit that wasnt as bad (Though nowhere near excusable)

Could've killed Staker ... friggin INDEED.

Blind Barry wasn't even looking when he laid in that punch.

Staker would still probably be asleep if Blind Barry was taking notice of what he was doing.

West Australians are a pack of sooky la-la's.

FFS didn't disgraced ex-west coast eagles fallen star Ben 10 break one of his OWN team mates arms?

            Mmmmmmmmm.... could've killed him.

            Indeed.

In the immortal words of Rocky Balboa he coulda murdered the bums. Hall is the only AFL footballer who can seriously box. If he had really lost control he could have dealt with that pathetic rabble alphabetically. He didn't. He lost it momentarily and should go for two weeks.

Look i really dont think it could of been a fatal punch, tho i dont reckon it was his hardest hit.. because his hardest hit ungloved would of broken his jaw in 3 places. Look at all the people Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield hit in their time.. none of them died.

Connolly, I think he'll get alot more than 2 weeks mate... i reckon 6 myself. doesnt matter because hes got a broken wrist anyways... Barry Hall could give any other player in the AFL a hiding in the ring. Wouldnt mind him taking up the offer from angelo hyder last year and fight NRL's Willie Mason. My money would be on Hall.

This is an interesting point Annie. I had noticed it as well, in fact i would go as far as to say I think Barry meant to fend him off/hit him in the chest/give him a fore arm jolt, but he missed (because he wasn't looking) and hit him with a glancing blow to the chin. It would have still been ugly, but not done with the intent that some of the hysterical bleatings have made it out to be.

He wasn't looking as he started to swing, but as he turned he knew exactly where the punch was going. he was looking straight at him.

Yes Staker could have been killed by a meteor, what exactly is the statistical likelihood of being killed by a punch to the jaw one in two million?

Some people are in hysterics, don't remember this response when Brodie Holland felled Paul Williams behind play

What exactly are the differences, Brodie Holland is a model, Barry isn't quite? Or resentment of the the McGuire incident?

Of course they don't. If the media went berserk like they did with that case, Malthouse would have been in hysterics, and would have been crying by now.

And plus, the victim in this case was a Swans player and the perpatrator was a Collingwood player. Collingwood players are innocent according to the media.

                                But did he "see" him.
                                He was pretty pist off.

By my reckoning, he would have only had that split second to decide to either stop the punch happening - or lessen it's intensity.

He couldn't stop it from connecting.
